Grab Fast Reboot from Google Play and see if you can boot into recovery that way.

Thanks for that, although I'm now able to boot into recovery the normal way...not sure why I couldn't earlier today.
I'll keep Fast Reboot in mind for next time though.

The battery life on my S3 has been quite bad lately.

I have it plugged into my pc at work and by midday its charged up and by afternoon (6-7 pm) it would be around 50-60 %

Usage during the day is only emails (has sync on for gmail), sms (10-15), and very few calls (5-10mins), web browsing (10-15mins)

I charge it on the car charger on my way home and by the time I get home its upto around 80%

Usage after getting home is similar as day time, email (gmail sync is on fulltime), sms (5-10), mostly no calls, web usage (5-10 mins)

By the time I go to bed its already down to less than 20% so I have to charge is again. And then by the morning its down to 40-50 % again

I uninstalled loads of apps that were all the time running in the background like viber and words with friends and a few others.

Is it time for the battery to be replaced or is something else running in the background chewing on the battery that I am unaware of at this stage

Reboot it. I find that often makes a difference.

Also look at installing Better Battery Stats. There's a version on XDA if you're too cheap to stump up the ~$2 it costs. It can help you track down what's using your battery (if anything, it could just be getting old)

Anyone having GPS problems? For the last month now, my phone can't get a GPS signal. Normally i use Gmaps to get everywhere, but recently, i've had to turn WIFI on so that it can get some approx location from local wifi networks which happens once every few minutes and makes going anywhere very hard. There is absolutely NO signal at all from GPS.

There is absolutely NO signal at all from GPS.

Install GPSTest and see if it's really getting any Satellites at all. If it's getting some, but not locking on, use the Clear AGPS in settings, then the Update AGPS.

That usually fixes GPS Issues.

Is it Stock? Or running some fabulous ROM that a teenager made in his basement by slapping binaries together until it booted? Sorry, I meant Fast and Liquid SMOOTH.

Ahh, well that's both good and bad! Good in that it helps narrow down that yea, it's probably 100% hardware, bad in that you can't attempt to fix it by going back to Stock.

All I can suggest short of taking it for repair is this.

This is a very common complaint. The cable you get with the phone is of quite poor quality.
Try replacing the cable before you call the battery dead.

I can back up this comment! Issue happened to a mate of mine replaced the USB cable and no issue since

I can back this up too - just replaced my cable and AC charging works properly now.

The S3 has unstable AC detection which lowers the charging rate if this is detected (often from having a bad cable).

I bought a couple of $3 cables from dx.com with free shipping and I get much faster charging now (before it would struggle to charge even up to 70% overnight...)

I'm having the same charging issue, will barely charge when the phone is on. End up having to turn the phone off to get a decent charge which ends up taking forever.

Ended up buying the Nokia charger today, that was linked to on the last page. Fingers crossed this helps

Check Settings>Location Services Make sure 'Use GPS Satelites' is checked

Just in case you haven't :)

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Holy moly this FIXED IT!! Nearly all the screws in the back were somewhat loose, tightened them all, rebooted and GPS works!!

Seems like such a weird fix... But thanks for linking this. I tried some other fixes i found, but none of them worked (it was all software related)
