Then you need to install it to get the drivers for your phone.

I do have the drivers installed, I did install it for the first day. Works perfectly in USB mode while phone on, camera mode and file transfer mode.

Used sisters laptop, now have root access.
Now to decide what ROM to try first, any recommendations? was going to try VanillaRootbox first or omega v44.3

Hi guys :) Im probably going off topic here, but has anyone noticed screen burn on their Samsung Galaxy S3? Would be keen on hearing how this issue was resolved for you IE. was this covered under the manufacturers warranty etc ...

i can only assume this is what is happening on my unit - best way to describe it really is that the keyboard is "ghosting" in the background. more noticeable when composing an email as the background is white.

depends on what you like, Omega has a lot of support and devs doing themeing for it but tends to roll out pretty quick.
I am backl on Wanam 6.6 as its always been good on battery life and is prettyy good.

Theres CM10.1 if you like to modify everything possble on your phone except no Samsung stuff, likewise AOKP. If you want to to try a bit of each try Pacman its good as well but still some issues wityh CM based roms.

Ultima has a lot of followers as does Android revolution or try original stuff and go Paranoid Android.

Once you have done a nandroid nackup you can try what you like for a few days and restore back if you don't like it.

Hi Tam

I don't have keyboard ghosting but I have Status Bar ghosting.

Here's what I posted on page 361.

Daff: Has anyone come across any screen burn-in issues? I think screen-burn in is not technically the correct term on an AMOLED display but it best describes my issue.

Whenever I'm viewing a photo or video in fullscreen, I have this opaque 'line/band' appear where the Status bar would have been. It is really noticable the most when viewing blue colours but is also visible on whites and greys. Red and greens are the hardest to see this 'line' but it is there.

Here's a photo:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/86067647/s3-screen.JPG

I've read some time ago that this can happen on AMOLED displays but to be honest, I'm a little disappointed that I have this defect on a 9 month old phone.

Looks like I'll be sending my phone in to be repaired.

Unfortunately I haven't done anything about it yet, but still keen on what other people think about it too.

this has been some discussion on XDA worth looking at but can get confusing.

also I remember seeing an app that is said to fix light burn ins but some think it doesn't work either .

Flashed Wanam's version last night, don't usually flash leaks so early on but this is the second 4.2.2 leak the first didn't seem ready for daily usage. The latest is very good thus far and has a lot of the S4 goodies but once the novelty wears off I probably won't use any of them.

New enhancements in Android 4.2.2 update
- Android 4.2.2 – Build ID: JDQ39
- New S4 Lockscreen: Multiple Widgets, two Unlock effects (Ripple and Light), improved ripple effect than Android 4.1.2, ability to change clock size and set a personal message
- New Screen modes (From S4): Adapt Display and Professional Photo
- Daydream
- Driving mode
- Actionable notifications
- New Additions in Notification Center
- Completely revamped Settings UI (Tabbed interface – Exactly like the S4)
- Addition of Voice controls (Let’s you control various parts of the phone using voice commands – Galaxy S4 feature)
- Gallery modes have white background (When changing gallery modes to 3D the background changes to white)
- Full screen Samsung apps
- New S-Voice (from S4)
- New smart switch widget

My S3 powered off yesterday by itself, and refused to come back on again. Had to pull the battery to get it to boot.

Hope this isn't SDS 2.0

My S3 16GB is almost 10 months old now and it was on the verge of suffering SDS when 4.1.1 and then 4.1.2 came out and havent had unexpected reboots or shutdowns since then.

Battery life is getting pretty troublesome but thats another story..

Has the unexpected shutdown only happened once..? or has it repeated since your original post..?

ELKC firmware up to MB1 had a fix but you still suffer random freezes as it fixes itself, MB1 up seems to have rectified that (according to info on XDA)

if you are on custom roms you will need to check to make sure you have right recovery

Mines done this twice in the last week. On 4.1.2.

I'm also having another problem lately with calls disconnecting. The phone just doesn't seem to be able to hold a call. The disconnects are happening at varying stages of the conversations. I'm not moving around when it happens - the phone just drops the calls. 2 out of every 3 times it also locks up and won't free up again for several minutes. I end up having to reboot then call people back, talk for a few minutes, rinse and repeat.

Does anyone know what causes this?
