So . . . I have too many power banks.  I had 5 already and then I got the Momox power bank with wireless charging with the Note 10+ pre-order deal, bringing it up to 6.

Now PBTech go and offer this: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/BAPMIX22234/Xiaomi-Mi-20000mAh-Power-Bank-3-Pro-Edition---Blac

So now I'll have 7 power banks.  Anyone want to buy a couple of older power banks that only charge ~10W?  I only use my QC3.0 or PD power banks normally anyway.  I recently went on a motorcycle trip, camping each night and by the time I got home I'd spent 23 nights without sleeping indoors.  My motorbike has 2 QC3.0 USB sockets, I put one or two power banks in the tank bag with USB leads going to those USB sockets, this lets me charge my power banks as I ride.  I use the power banks to charge my Tab S4 10.5" tablet, Note 10+, camera, action camera, bluetooth comms on helmet, Bose QC35 II headphones, flashlight, etc.  I really do find the power banks useful, but on the last couple of trips I only used 4 power banks, the ones that charge the quickest.  None of my current ones have 45W in & 45W out though - that is a big step up.  I wonder how quick that power bank would charge from a 45W charger compared to my 25W charger that came with my Note 10+, possibly not worth the cost depending on the difference for the charge time.

My first power bank is a Xiaomi 16,000mAh power bank with 5V 2A charging (each way) which takes WAY too long to charge if it has been drained, like 10 hours or so.  My next least used power bank (Chuwi brand) has QC3.0 (each way) and can charge a device at 18W, it has 10,000mAh and works pretty well, until you need to charge it - it only charges at ~12W because it only goes with ~7V and under 2A.  My Xiaomi 10,000mAh power banks (I have 2 of those) charge at ~19W by going with ~9V and ~2A with a little above on each value to actually exceed the QC2 or QC3 specs.  The Momox charges at around 18W, pretty much sticking with QC3 or PD specs.  I'll check the new power bank to see what the actual charge rate is.  I also have a Xiaomi 20,000mAh older model power bank that is 18W each way, so I'll have 1 x 16,000mAh, 4 x 10,000mAh and 2 x 20,000mAh power banks.

The new power bank should be my fastest charger for my Note 10+ since I don't have the 45W charger.  Mostly I'm charging at 15W wireless and that seems reasonably fast anyway.  I might want to get my phone charged fairly quickly sometimes, but I'm mainly bought this new power bank for the ability to charge the power bank much faster, rather than to charge the phone faster.

I guess there are worst things to be addicted to than Power bank accumulation!

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Well, the new power bank definitely charges faster than 18W:

That's with the Note 10+ charger (it has picked up a little and is now charging at 24.5W), I wonder what the improvement in total charge time would be if I bought a 45W charger?  I have two of the N10+ chargers - one came with the phone and one with the Samsung 15W wireless charger that came with the bundle.  *Googles 45W charger*  It seems that the Samsung charger typically sells for $69, is it best to stick with the Samsung charger for 45W charging?

There aren't many (if any) third party chargers out there that supports the new Samsung 45W Super Fast Charging standard as it requires chargers to support PPS (Programmable Power Supplies) so best to get the original Samsung 45W charger.

In regards to the 45w charger, I watched a YouTube video from someone reputable (sorry I can't recall whom) and the 45w charger actually only ends up charging the S20 Ultra 5 or 6 minutes after. So based on that paying extra for a 45w charger is not worthwhile.

I should add that the only advantage to a 45w charger is perhaps the first 20 minutes where you do get more charge but the advantage diminishes over time.

Ah, yes - but what about for charging a 20,000mAh power bank?  With a higher capacity maybe it is faster for quite a bit longer.  The Note 10+ only has a 4,000mAh battery, so I'm talking about 5x the battery storage here.  There probably isn't much to be gained in terms of charge time when topping up from 80% to 100%, but what about when the power bank is down under 10% and needs a full charge?  It is surely possible that the power bank would gain a much greater advantage from a 45W charger than what the Note 10+ does.

So, my impressions with Whitestone Dome for my Note 10 + are:

It's expensive. It's tough. If you buy a 2 Pack as I did, you will only get half of the consumables you need.

Despite following the instructions on the YouTube video to the nth degree, within 4 days the top right had lifted. Warranty through their website is a PITA and it doesn't cover shipping.

I ended up in chat and they manually sent me another one.

So far, not that impressed.

I'm in the market for a portable charger but I'd also want one that is fast and more portable. I don't think 10W would quite cut it. I already have a large one like that one that you just linked, but I find it too big to use as an every day, carry in your pocket / jacket charger.

Do you have a recommendation for something which is fast AND portable? I'm not bothered about large capacity or Powerbank charge speed... anywhere between 6000-8000 mAh would suffice. More important is the phone charge speed.

I find the 10,000mAh power banks to be fairly small & light, easily slipping into a pocket.  You can get plenty of these that will charge at ~18W which is decently quick, not far off the charge time from the 25W charger that comes with the phone.  The Momax charger that came in the bundle with my phone seems to work well.  I've also had very good performance from my Xiaomi 10,000mAh power banks with 18W in/out.

No one seems to have the Xiaomi 10,000 power banks in stock in NZ except these guys: https://www.emax.co.nz/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5093&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0pfzBRCOARIsANi0g0v4Nax4LoGsEDfey2EvJ_xpnTR2ao_5dGJnM8k7bCivezhIYBfvKVUaAgyBEALw_wcB and I've never dealt with them before.

I have had 4 Momax failures. Something seems to happen when I plug them into my smart charger.

Wow, that's not good!  Mine seems to work well so far, I've charged it from my Xiaomi 6-port charger using one of the 18W slots (usually the USB-C PD one).  Did your failures all happen very early on or after a bunch of uses?

My Xiaomi power banks have been used on several long trips, they have been through several dozen cycles at least.  Never a problem and they do truely charge at 18W (19W even).

Basically, as soon as I plugged them into my Helper Branded Charger (Which I use to charge everything on my desk, via the PD/QC port).

That one would be alright but is only 12W charge speed? 5.1V * 2.4A ?

Oh yes, you're right - definitely not the model I would buy.  Mine are the QC2.0 in/out ones, there are newer PD/QC models that also handle 18W in/out, I'm not sure why no one has these now.  PBTech carry Xiaomi and stock the 20,000mAh power bank with 45W in/out and they used to have the 10,000mAh power banks (that's where one of my two came from). BTW QC2.0 charges up to 18W, QC3.0 charges up to 18W - not really a lot of advantage of QC3 over QC2.

Today I got my Samsung 45W charger.  For my phone, after being in my pocket all day and having 60% battery remaining, I checked the charge speed - 25W.  I suspect that this charger would work well to get a Note 10+ from ~0% to 60% in a really short time, beyond that it would be no quicker than the 25W charger that comes with the phone.  My verdict: totally not worth worrying about for the phone.  I tried my power bank with 3 lights (out of 4) for the charge level - around 43W.  I'll have to do some testing, but I think that 45W charging might be very worthwhile for a 20,000 mAh power bank, but not so much for a 4,000mAh phone.
