Elpie:
ajobbins: My S3 powered off yesterday by itself, and refused to come back on again. Had to pull the battery to get it to boot.

Hope this isn't SDS 2.0

Mines done this twice in the last week. On 4.1.2.

I'm also having another problem lately with calls disconnecting. The phone just doesn't seem to be able to hold a call. The disconnects are happening at varying stages of the conversations. I'm not moving around when it happens - the phone just drops the calls. 2 out of every 3 times it also locks up and won't free up again for several minutes. I end up having to reboot then call people back, talk for a few minutes, rinse and repeat.

Does anyone know what causes this?

Not sure. I had calls become silent as well.
It was gone for 2 to 3 seconds then come back. And a few dropped out since I'm on Vodafone firmware. Didn't have any problem with international firmware.

Also my browser suddenly exit out on me many times and I lost all my tabs. May be firmware bug on Vodafone one?
RAM management became a bit inefficient as well. Too many junk apps.

My S3 started powering off yesterday. If I left the phone for 30 mins I would keep finding it had shutdown. Never happened before yesterday. I took battery out for 10mins and hasnt done it since..
And a call btw 2 s3s went silent.. neither of us could hear anything.

i've not encountered any dropped calls issue BUT some times when phone ringing it does not wake up ! yes  screen remains off for good few seconds and if wait long enough it shows the caller!!

One of my friends had a similar issue where their phone would lock up every time they received a call. suffice to say their phone died from SDS and had to get sent off for a mobo replacement.

I'm not experiencing any issues maybe because I always flash a custom Rom or just lucky. I have have had issues with bad reception on both S2&3 but just changed Modems.

Is the common denominator that everyone is on stock OTA?

Maybe these issues surface after a certain amount of time.. like the SDS was encountered between the 3-6 months mark..

I have stock rom and havent encountered this yet but maybe my handset hasnt been in use long enough..

Can any of those having these issues please state how long it has been since they using their phones

Mine is done 296 days and going good since the last update

I just reset my SGS3 because I now have a HTC One and plan on selling my SGS3 on Trade Me.

I have done a factory reset and just want to confirm all my details will be off the device wont they? So no media, no accounts, no search history. It will be like using a brand new device for the new owner, correct?

Thanks :)

Got mine june 9 last year.

I have the s4 now. Was thinking of selling both when the note 3 comes out, but if I can get the "nexus" ROM for the s4, it's a keeper!

If you are having issues also, please check out my new thread which links to a helpful XDA thread which was a good read with handy tips.
