The watch straps I spoke about for the sony smartwatch 2 have just arrived and I am in the process of creating a listing in the offers and wanted for them. I wanted a copule so just covering costs at $15 each.

I found a hack on xda.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735718

It allows for customisation of watchfaces and widgets like never before. Now you can overlap widgets onto current watchfaces. Notification widgets are transparent, so you can put them over an analogue watch face . Date and battery widgets can be overlaid onto analogue etc.

It also allows for quick switching between watch faces. Love it. My life is complete.

Seriously this sw2 has got to be the most underrated piece of technology.

I've been looking at the Sony smartwatch 3. They've caved in and gone down the android Wear route which is understandable. What I note is unique is the inclusion of gps for standalone use. The SW2 is a huge leap ahead of the SW1 for standalone use, and the SW3 looks to be an equally big leap. It appears you will be able to use it as a walkman watch paired to bluetooth headphones independant of phone. The rubber strap system looks to be a downer for me, but the unit is removable from the strap, so potentially an adapter could be made to convert to conventional watchbands. If Sony had sourced a transflective round display I'd be all over this like a rash. Maybe I'll stick with my SW2 until the Sony Round gets announced...

I'm not sure if I'm the only person still reading this thread... Anyways my SW2 lives on.

There was a firmware upgrade Dec/Jan which initially broke 3rd party watchfaces, but the last update is working fine. Now we can swipe between three watchfaces, you can have 5 custom watchfaces on board the device and there's 14 inbuilt faces.

So why am i still holding on to this old tech?

1 it lasts me 3 days on battery (50+ hours on time)

2 the screen is always on with the motion sensor

3 the screen is daylight viewable

4 the case is only 9mm thick

The only Wear watch that piques my interest even slightly is the Smartwatch 3 but battery life puts me off.

In case there is anybody here reading this thread with a SW2 I want to let you know of an Easter Egg i just was informed of. Put 1035= into the calculator and you'll get a little surprise! A new native app on your watch...
