Checked the Noel Leeming on Queen St at lunch time, but they didn't have the phone on display, and their staff were busy with other customers.
Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.
Went in to Featherston St (Wellington CBD) Noel Leeming's, most staff had never heard of it but they passed me on to the Mobile Solutions guy. He said they are getting them in but none in stock yet and no firm ETA, they are working with the suppliers to secure stock. By the looks of their website Sylvia Park, Albany, Queen St and Botany Downs in Auckland have some stock.
Been following this post with some interest. Went into Noel Lemming today in Christchurch (Moorhouse Ave) and they had stock, as did the Riccarton store. Its the XT1550 model, and the box said 16gb.
As much as I have been hanging out for this phone, I look at the price ($449) and wonder is it the deal I was hoping it would be? Hopefully more stores have it soon so we get some competition, would like to see it just under $400 but I may be dreaming.
Good to hear it's the 16GB version. I agree though, price is too high. I'll wait for Noel Leeming to do a promo and get one then, but only if I can't get my hands on a Oneplus X EU version before then :-)
That must be a mistake, would need somebody to sight an actual retail box at Noel Leeming to confirm the model number etc. The appropriate model for the NZ market is the XT1550 which is the 16GB/2GB model
When I was in there the box had 16gb on the sticker, but the sales person did say it was the 1gb memory version - which does not help. Working off the box I would say it is the 16gb version. Looking at the website they have no stock in Christchurch anymore, and he did say at the time they had very limited stocks.
I did phone Noel Lemmings and the person I struck was not sure on which version.
I agree that if it is indeed the 8gb version then it is shockingly overpriced, and can be obtained cheaper from mobicity.
If it is 16GB storage, it should have 2gb RAM. I have not seen a version that comes with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. If that price is for the 8GB version then the 2nd gen MotoG is practically the same phone for $200 less.

ou Can you please confirm is this the 1gb memory or 2gb memory version? Nov 10, 2015 13:07:15 Rebecca I will just check that for you now. One moment. Nov 10, 2015 13:08:18 You thanks for that, and could you also confirm the model number please Nov 10, 2015 13:09:48 Rebecca Sorry for the delay, have been trying to make contact with the supplier on model number details to confirm the RAM. Nov 10, 2015 13:18:35 Rebecca It appears to be 2gb Nov 10, 2015 13:18:38 You Appreciate that, you have stock on hand still? Nov 10, 2015 13:20:53 Rebecca We have some around. Where in NZ are you based? Nov 10, 2015 13:21:38 You Christchurch Nov 10, 2015 13:22:46 Rebecca My supplier could not answer that question, and as my buyer are not at the phone right now I cannot answer what the model number is at this time. :( If I can get your email I can contact you once we know. And at this stage, we only sell the Moto G 3rd Gen single sim version so it is the 2GB size ram.
Via the harvey norman website under the specs, it seems there is a lot of confusion among the retailers as to what they are actually selling. Sadly the RAM is not listed, but according to the website they have stock in most of their branches. May try and get in for a peek over the weekend or otherwise it will be next week when I am back on day shift.
