I would also love to know. Motorola announced that the Moto G was rolling out on Wed in 60 different countries and was really hoping that NZ would be one of them.

I really hope we get the 16GB ROM/2GB RAM version too instead of just the low end one. I am really keen to see this phone in the flesh. Would probably replace my Honor 6 with it despite the slightly lesser specs.

Yeah the extra RAM and storage would be great.

Shame they won't certify it for larger SDXC cards as well.

I asked Motorola when we received the press release:

Nothing at the moment, but we will update you soon as we can on details for the local market. I don’t think they’ll be too far away from the international markets

From looking at the specs, if you want one and value 4g, don't get it from the US.
http://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-g. The US ones don't support band 3 or band 28.

  •

    Bands (by model)

    Moto G - GSM (XT1540)
    LTE (2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17)
    UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 1700/AWS, 1900, 2100 MHz)
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz

  • Moto G - Sprint Prepaid, US Cellular, Virgin Mobile (XT1548)
    LTE (2, 4, 5, 12, 17, 25, 26)
    UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 1700, 1900 MHz)
    CDMA (800, 850, 1900 MHz)
    TD-LTE (41 TD2500)
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

The UK one on the other hand does at least support band 3 so it is about the same as most LTE phones currently. http://www.motorola.co.uk/products/moto-g.
Moto G - GSM (XT1541)
LTE (1, 3, 7, 8, 20)
UMTS/HSPA+ (900, 2100 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

They have previously had the US model and the "International' model.

So I'll be fine buying one in the UK and using it on Skinny here?

EDIT: See post below mine, Buy the XT1550.

Sunsu: So I'll be fine buying one in the UK and using it on Skinny here?

That won't work well on skinny at all. You'll have 3G and 4G when you're in the middle of the city but out in the suburbs or indoors you'll likely drop out entirely. Rurally you'll also get nada.

The UK model is good for 3G/4G over here on 2Degrees/Vodafone.
On Spark/Skinny the USA model will work on 3G here but you'll get no 4G and it won't work properly on 2degrees/vodafone.

I am currently in India where this device was available since launch day. The model here is XT1550 which supports the following bands.

Bands (by model)
Moto G (XT1550)
LTE (1, 3, 7, 8, 28,40) UMTS/HSPA+ (900, 2100, 850 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz). It's about 300 odd NZD with the current exchange rate for the 16gb version. I might get one from here.

That one sounds about perfect and with band 28 LTE, it would even support the upcoming 700 MHZ LTE rollout here.

Looks like it will work on the Spark / Skinny 3G network.

XT1550 supports FDD-LTE 2600(B7)/2100(B1)/1800(B3)/900(B8)/700(B28) MHz, TD-LTE 2300(B40) MHz, W-CDMA 2100(I)/900(VIII)/850(V) MHz, GSM 1900/1800/900/850 MHz.

Would be very interested to see this as a Dual SIM if both SIMs can support 3G.

Perfect. That's exactly what we need and hopefully this means some local carriers will bring in the XT1550.

"XT1550 supports FDD-LTE 2600(B7)/2100(B1)/1800(B3)/900(B8)/700(B28) MHz, TD-LTE 2300(B40) MHz, W-CDMA 2100(I)/900(VIII)/850(V) MHz, GSM 1900/1800/900/850 MHz."

XT1543 and XT1544 would be a secondary option, they appear to be missing the main Band 3 LTE but have 7 and 28, and our 3G bands. Are these dual sim variants?

Confusing though, i count 6 variants so far:
XT1540/XT1541/XT1543/XT1544/XT1548/XT1550

The previous dual SIM versions supported 3g on both SIMs so here's hoping.

Very interested in the 2GB RAM/16GB storage model.

Currently using the Moto G (version 2) and it is fine. My main complaint is the 8GB onboard memory fills up fast when apps are updated and I have to move stuff back to the SD card to free the space for updates. (Some apps stay on the SD card and some move back to the phone when i update them - seems random)

Hopefully get a date for when it is on sale soon

Anyone seen any updates for this? I can't even find anywhere selling the 16GB one.
