each to their own, if you are stuck needing telecom then so be it, but i dont use much data at all, almost always in wifi.
i think there is plenty of info on the ulefone website, its quite nicely presented, and their are hands on. only when a review is produced will we know how good it really is and until them im taking it with large grain of salt like all phones.
This phone is similar/slightly better than the VF Smart Ultra, for a similar price-point I would buy the local phone, know what i am getting and be comfortable in the knowledge that it is fully supported locally
I cannot reiterate enough how good the Smart Ultra actually is (keeping in mind it is a $300 mid level phone), it genuinely would keep 95% of people happy 99% of the time
This phone is definitely not a flagship. By definition, a flagship is the best or most important of a group. Aside from the battery, there is nothing about this phone that is in any way exceptional. If anything, the weak CPU and lack of 3G frequencies make it slightly below average.
I'd also be very wary of software updates. These cheaper, Chinese-made devices do not have a good track record odd getting updates. The Ulephone is being released with an outdated OS, and while an update to Marshmallow has been promised, I suspect that's probably the only update it'll ever get.
Android malware is on the rise, and Google are now releasing monthly security updates for Nexus devices. Samsung and other major manufacturers are following suit. Will Ulephone do so too?
id hardly call it WEAK, sure its not an 810 soc, but its definitely mid range, better than a vodafone ultra and costs the same with days of battery and what if is true a VERY good camera.
to me flagship killa isnt about competing, thats not what brings down prices, its about producing devices at reasonable prices that perform in real world situations at a reasonable level. i dont consider anything about the galaxy s6 mind blowing for example, its camera has ois, it has a nice platform, but it runs out of battery very fast and it costs 4x the price of this device.
flagship killa is never going to be the same high end soc or platform for $300. i dont know why people dont get that point. what the average user wants is a phone that does most activities moderately well and they dont have to plug it in every night, remember those days (actually some of you probably dont).
denting the market of high end devices is going to happen whether fan bois like it or not and these devices will eventually filter through to the not so tech savy that they dont need an adreno 430 and 4gb of ram etc.
im not even saying this is the one, it hasnt been tested. but so many, so quick to right off a midrange phone for the price of a budget phone with some features that are market leading. i think the concept is bang on. will it be implemented as well as suggested, dont know, dont care.
well its going to depend on what kills the flag for each person i guess.
some it might be mid range performance at 1/3 the price like the meizu m note which i have used and is very nice for the money.
but for me its battery life and camera and i havnt had a phone with both yet let alone at flagship killa price.
i think i was wrong, its the tech savvy around the world buying up chinese market phones with international UIs that are going to change the market. i think the nexus prime deserves to be at the top simply for the software.
either way, having so many good phones which were once budget prices is a good thing.
sure if you are a 40yr old stuck in your early 20s still playing games on your phone ;-p or into watching movies on a phone (each to their own but why would you want to) then you are going to want the fastest cpu and gpu and a good screen and thats going to always be flagship, there is no such thing as that phone at $300 and never will be. and then there are those that just want the latest and greatest cause they can. and good for them.
