$1600 is insane. I had always said I was prepared to stump up for the flagship based on how much I used my phone for everything, all the time. I didn't see the point in economising on such an oft used device.

And I can afford it.

But am I? No freaking way am I spending $1600 on a phone. My Note4 looks like it'll do me for at least another complete upgrade cycle. I'd like the 7 for sure, but not like it $1600 worth.

Cheers -N.

Yeah, I am a gadget FREAK, my house would make most DSE stores look pretty average, and like you, I can afford it, and I use my device all day every day, but it's just utterly nonsense to suggest $1600 for a phone in my opinion.

That is a bloody nice NOTEBOOK for crying out loud.

I'd pay $1299 begrudingly, but yeah, I can't seriously make $1600 work in my common sense actuator. My Note5 is awesome, so I guess I'll stick with that for now.

They skipped the Note 6 to align with the s7 range but they release each at practically opposite ends of the year and in between this they're going to be a number off anyway.

I am still on my trusty Note 3. It has been dropped countless times, bashed and bitten by my 1 year old and keeps trucking along. The battery is dying and the camera really sucks as the focus drops in and out. The GPS now takes about 5-10 minutes to start working on activation but I get by.

I really wanted to get a Note 7 but until the price drops to $1200, I will have to wait. My Note 3 only cost $600 when the phone was new (on a crazy good resign offer), so it's hard to think about coughing up $1600.

I'm also quite skeptical about the Edge design. I have had a few friends who told me they'd never go Edge again. I'd have to test it in hand I guess. Starting to wonder if I should just buy a dirt cheap Note 4 and get by for 2 more years as at least I can buy new batteries.

I'm still rocking my trusty note 2. The note 7 while looking interesting, doesn't appeal so much with the edge design. Given that the internal specs are the same as S7, I'm heavily leaning towards dropping about half the dollars on a dual sim s7 non edge. G-930FD
I don't use the pen features enough to justify such expense, and think I'll prefer a slightly smaller size in hand.

The Note 7 pricing is just too steep to justify any sane person to purchase (IMHO), especially when you consider it alongside mid-price phones like the Oneplus 3 or the recently released ZTE Axon 7 - both around half the price of the N7. I wonder how much longer before the gloss finally falls off these very highly priced flagships.

I reckon wait a couple of weeks to compare against the upcoming Nexus.

Just waiting to see what 2degrees has to offer.

I have been with 2degrees ever since they launched and the shared data is awesome ...

Spark has an interesting package with the account credit but $164 per month is too steep . If they could lower that by $35 I would join them right away ,

Vodafone not so much, . I don't want to pay $20 for shared data when 2degrees is free. Vodafone doesn't offer any incentive for the top plan that they have at $149.
For Vodafone they would sell me over if it was $120 for a 10GB plan

You guys keep saying you would pay $1299 and Vodafone are doing it at $1299 when you pay it off interest free, that's the deal I went for!

Right, but see the way it works for me, is I have a bunch of contracts to re-sign, each of those gives me a rebate, but that rebate is only usable (According to my DM Account manager)  as a hardware voucher. If I could have it as an account credit, I'd do the interest free thing, but otherwise I pay $1299 for the phone and my $1000 credit goes to waste.

I pre-ordered the note7 Through Noel Leeming on Wednesday night because no other place was offering it without a plan (it will be network unlocked)!

I got it with fly buys and 30 months interest free on my Gem Visa. I also have shoppers protection which includes if the price drops from the same store within 6 months then they will put the difference back onto my card (up to $600) =D

Anyway I've now seen you can order it and get the free sd card AND VR through https://shop.stuff.co.nz/products/galaxy-note7?variant=25905732295 I've decided to keep my order with NL as I don't know if I trust that site? and the it says it could take 5-10 business days for delivery after the 19th, I'm not patient enough for that as I've been waiting since before I bought my note 5 for an edge note.

I'm only upgrading to give my husband my note 5 and I'll get the new shiny one, well that's what I keep telling myself ;) Also I noticed the note 5 only recently went from $1299 (what I purchased it for from Spark) to $999.

I hope people realise you can disable the "edge" feature so you won't activate it by touching the side.
