Won't work anymore.  User has already tried that but it still has the spark bootup screen. looks like the note 8 is a lot different when i comes to the CSC etc.

As above
If you're turning your phone off to save power then you probably have bigger issues with your device then you think. My phone will be lucky to drop more then 2% overnight, probably uses more power booting it up.

No, I'm not turning it off specifically to save power. I'm turning it off because there is no point in leaving it on. I am asleep. I do not wish to be woken up by anyone ringing me, and would have it on silent anyway, so it may as well be off.

Leaving it on would be as pointless as leaving the TV on all night on mute.

Except things that need to be on.

My mother in-law would turn the router off every night because the flashing LED lights use too much power

But she didn't see any issue running the dryer during a nice day... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Even if someone needed to get a hold of you in an emergency?

Not the same. A phone goes into sleep mode, where as a TV just stays on just wasting power.

I'm not knocking what you do, I just don't see the logic behind it. But what ever spins ya rims, go for it

No one lives close enough to me to make ringing me in an emergency a worthwhile act. I have no family in NZ. My closest family member lives in California, so ringing me won't be much help.
