There's an upcoming Black Friday deal on the US Google Store. Looks like a Pixel 3 XL will be US$699 (rather than US$899).

https://www.cnet.com/news/black-friday-cyber-monday-pixel-deals-2018-pixel-3-for-600-pixel-3-xl-for-700-google/

Doing some rough calculations, that's about NZ$1250 once you add in YouShop shipping, GST, and Customs clearance fee. Cheapest option I've found so far.

My reservations are that you would have even fewer options that buying from Australia if something went wrong, and doubt about whether the US version is identical to the internation version (including supported bands and carrier aggregation combinations).

How about the UK version? The whole Black Friday thing has taken off there too by all accounts.

I'm in Australia in a few weeks; might look at them whilst I am there.

Black Friday deals have just been announced by the UK and Australian Google Stores. They're not nearly as good though. The UK store has only £40 off the Pixel 3 XL, but also has £200 off the Pixel 2 XL. The Australian store only has AU$100 off the Pixel 2 XL.

So the US store deals are still by far the best.

Kogan has pixel 3 as 'sold out' and 'coming soon'. Maybe something happening there.

I could be keen. But there is also the US$200 off deal starting in a week which is almost as good. So it might not be worth going to the trouble of doing a combined order. I estimate we would save about NZ$75 each combining compared with waiting for the deal next week (taking into account combined shipping and customs fees). Where in NZ are you based? I'm in Wellington.

Any idea until when these deals are live till? I am very keen for this offer and so as my friend is.

I see the $200 off offer coming soon on the 22nd. But the 50%  offer looks way better for us than the $200 off. Don't want to be too late to pick this offer as my friend needs to get the money sorted for this one. :D

The base model Pixel 3 at $649 on black friday deal would convert to about $1080NZD including 15% NZ GST is that right?

Is it safe to assume that buying direct from Google US using YouShop I would have have essentially no warranty should something go wrong?

You'll also have to pay the entry fees on top of the GST. They're NZ$52.67 according to the What's My Duty estimator on the NZ Customs website.

I believe you could make a warranty claim, but you'd have to send the phone back to the United States. Then you'd probably have to use YouShop again to get it back to New Zealand afterwards. Finally you'd have to convince Customs that it's not a new import so you don't get hit with GST all over again.

Not only the entry costs as listed above but you pay GST on the freight too. So I'd say landed here closer to $1200 NZD

Does anybody know how can you pay at the US google store for this offer. I just tried placing an order on the two 3 XL's but it's reporting error on the card.

I assume they are just accepting payments from the cards registered in the states only. Has anyone tried placing an order on the Google Store before with a NZ card?

HELP on this one please! Really need this sorted soon.

In the past I've been able to use the AirNZ Airpoints AMEX to order stuff from google store.

I'm sure it has been mentioned on previous threads that Google geo blocks C/Cards

This is close to impossible for me then. I just have an ANZ visa to pay with which doesn't seem like working at all. Then this way, I don't think i can get Pixel 3 from anywhere else except Australia.

Also, Youshop USA has a maximum value for items to be shipped to NZ of NZD2000. And with this offer, the package goes around ~NZD2100.
