A couple of vids up MKBHD and Unbox Therapy

I dunno the primary screen is what 4.7” or there about, too small, looks like it has giant bezels and I would probably never use it or get frustrated at trying. Each video confirms a noticeable crease.

Even if it was priced lower I’d still give this a miss, this tech is still in its infancy I’m excited to see what next gen will bring like maybe S-Pen compatibility.

The videos I have seen are all very positive and gushing. Normally I would expect to see the strengths and weaknesses. The plastic screen negatives haven't even been dicusssed in depth. WIll be interesting to see Jerryrigeverthings review of it, especially the scratch and bend test.

I suspect this tech is going to be outdated very quickly, as OLED isn't the future. I also don't think they needed a folding membrane screen to achieve a folding phone. A rolled up screen would have made far more sense, rather than ending up with a crease down the middle.  MicroLED is the future. I expect to see folding phones which will have solid screens that will join and align perfectly, and can still use glass.

Yes!

My thoughts...

I'm really struggling over this or the Note 10 though.

I don't want to fork out 3k cash for the phone but would happily finance it, especially if one of our Telcos offers a deal. Sadly I don't Samsung NZ are bringing this phone to us?

And if you think about it, it comes with Samsung Buds which are about $300 so really the phone is only $2700 :p

Importing it would hurt at the border too sadly.

Would really prefer going hands on prior to purchase too. Something else very unlikely.

It'll be the note 10 for me every day of the week over the fold.
Having watched MKBHD and UBT clips this first iteration doesn't do it for me, dare I say it looks clunky.
Paying that much and having a gap at the hinge when closed- it's a no from me.
Note 10 has me salivating already with months to go still

Apparently they had to leave the gap for the camera sensors

I would like a hands on experience before forking out so much. the resale of will be only a 1000 if you decide to sell in 10 months or so... Maybe they could make cheaper packaging box for it, like yups it's really cool but then u just throw the box away, could shaved of 50 for the price haha

Clunky yes, but I really miss my Nokia E90 Communicator and this thing folded reminds of that form factor :)

Uh so a lot of these are breaking.

Remains to be seen if this is Samsung-specific or whether this kind of use will be even harsher on the Mate X style of phone.

Oh no.

I don't like the Mate X having external screens. Doesn't look right to me.

"Samsung's foldable smartphones are breaking when unfolded, raising questions about the device's public launch next week.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold, which will cost £1,800, has an internal folding screen which can be used as a tablet-size device, as well as an external screen which can be used as a smartphone."
