Just set up a 2degrees eSIM on my 6 Pro and.....no change 😢 No IMS registration and no VoLTE. It must be all to do with those specific Spark operator settings. How did they get the secret sauce and none of the other NZ carriers did?

not sure if anyone from Spark can confirm if they been intouch with the big G,

but from my guess, Spark must be one of the appoved Roaming partners with some of the US Carriers, which they enabled the settings in June, with the update, but not sure why they only targeted the Pixel 6 only, anyone got a Pixel 6a using Spark, wonder if its for Tensor Modems only

havnt seen any devices older then Pixel 6 connect to Spark with VOLTE

Looks like Vodafone 3g will be turned off in 2 years. At least we have spark as an option now.

I have Pixel 6 Pro (with Android 13) on Skinny which is owned by Spark

After quite a long chat it ended like this:-

Kimberly A (30/08/2022, 10:51:46 am): Thank you for waiting Robert. I already provisioned your sim card for VoLTE. Just want to remind you that since your device is not a listed compatible VoLTE devise of Skinny, we cannot guarantee that it will work.
Me (30/08/2022, 10:52:40 am): Thankyou very much. Will it be active now? Or do I have to wait a while?
Kimberly A (30/08/2022, 10:55:42 am): You will need to wait until 24 - 48 hours to reflect all changes Robert.

Watch this space.

Could you possibly quote/list what you asked Skinny to do? I've had a hard time trying to get to talk to someone that actually understands, what it is I'm requesting...

I'm still waiting but here is the transcript of the chat with Skinny:-

Kimberly A (30/08/2022, 10:22:13 am): Hi Robert, my name is Kimberly, how may I help you?
Me (30/08/2022, 10:22:18 am): I would like my SIM to be provisioned for VoLTE. I know that my Pixel 6 Pro  it is not yet on your approved list but I know that some Spark customers with the same phone and Android 13 can now use VoLTE if their SIM is provisioned.
Kimberly A (30/08/2022, 10:23:50 am): Kia Ora Robert, how are you today? Thank you for contacting Skinny. We will need to check if you're device is already VoLTE ready.
Me (30/08/2022, 10:24:43 am): Are you doing that now?
Me (30/08/2022, 10:25:06 am): Oh, yes I am fine today. Thanks for asking.
Kimberly A (30/08/2022, 10:26:57 am): I am just checking the devices listed Robert.

Me (30/08/2022, 10:48:20 am): Auto top up using my VISA account
Kimberly A (30/08/2022, 10:48:40 am): Thank you for those details - Give me 2-3 minutes to check everything on our end
Me (30/08/2022, 10:48:55 am): OK. I will put the jug on

I don't think she did a thing. Sounds exactly like what every support person has said to me. It's been a month and I haven't heard from 2degrees about the ticket I raised with them to do the same thing. They don't seem to actually understand what we're talking about, and just end up saying what we want to hear so we'll get off the line! 🤣

yup I had a lovely chat with a person who was bit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about the whole thing. Guess phone is getting rooted in the weekend and I'm doing this the hard way, sigh...

That's the problem with support these days the second you deviate slightly out of the norm of what their script says you are not able to be helped or they act like they help you but don't do a thing and just get you off the line, no free thinkers or people with smarts anymore.

Been following this thread very closely so far - and just to confirm, does everyone in this thread who's on Spark AND has the P6/P6P are all able to have 5G/VoLTE?

I believe VoLTE yes, but 5G no. I only have an old disconnected Spark sim to test with but it come ups up with VoLTE enabled

Will be moving wife and daughter from 2degrees back to Spark. I am stuck on voda with a corporate account unfortunately.

Just a thought with the support conversations/requests for getting VoLTE enabled. Why not just say you have a supported phone? I wouldn't even mention a google pixel, it will just confuse things.

They do ask you specificially what device you have, and you could lie, but it doesn't really change anything - they appear willing to flick over VoLTE once warning you your device isn't on the official list.

Then its just a case of Google not having the support/config on the actual device. Which is where many of us are stuck atm.

I took the plunge and rooted my phone on Friday, so I could install the magisk module enabling 5g and VoLTE. All went smoothly and as soon as I got it all up and running, I had VoLTE working when I made calls. All seemed fine and dandy until I tried to answer an incoming call - realising I couldn't! No matter what I tried, I could not answer an incoming call with VoLTE enabled - it just kept on ending the call! I ended up unrooting my phone and will live without it for now.

I have had one last try with 2degrees support and have asked them to manually add my IMEI number to their IMS database, in the faint hope that it might help. I doubt it, but you never know. Maybe Google will one day do for the other NZ carriers what they have done for Spark.

I wonder how tourists coming into NZ will get on with their Pixels  making and receiving calls in 4G only areas??

One theory is that it will work with an AU market phone, AU carrier, settings applied to the phone by carrier, roaming in NZ. Special sauce.
