If you have the June security update can somebody go into their phone and enter

and see if you can now turn on VoLTE?

I would try myself on my P4XL but currently it's dead and I need to send it in for repair somwhere.

Hi,

On 2Degrees with a Pixel 6 Pro and the VolTE and Wifi Calling toggles are greyed out

Do you have the June update? It seems Google wants to be able to allow their users to use VoLTE roaming in the US(so a T-Mobile user could roam on ATT and still get voice if ATT has deprecated 3G) but also for a US user to be able to roam to say the UK and also get VoLTE.

I wonder if they would ever add Voda, Spark or 2D NZ in the parameter list.

Both on June update, I did understand this could be a factor when I purchased both devices but I will remain optimistic.

I've been down that road with Spark before. Nothing Spark did worked. Similar problem for 5G. It's clear Google is restricting carrier ability to change this. I'm guessing this provides exclusivity for Google's deals with carriers or allocates supply efficiently. If Pixel becomes available from an NZ carrier I'd get another in an instant.

The only thing left to try is signing up with a USA carrier and see if roaming works ; )

You may already know there are guides around with root requirement as discussed in Pixel 6 topic. https://www.getdroidtips.com/vowifi-volte-pixel-6-pro/. Not recommended for many reasons discussed elsewhere.

So we just need for the people in Australia where the pixel 6 is sold to complain more about roaming to New Zealand not having VoLTE before this moves along?

Since it's an OS update (some config files I guess0 that should also apply to P6 phones Dick Smith sold which are from Japan

As has been raised in the other thread on this topic, all we need now for Google Australia to make representations to Google US to say their Pixel owners cannot get VoLTE in NZ and that means when roaming here they might have service on some carriers.

They'll most likely come back and say "But you still have 3G there so roaming isn't an issue" unless you get into a non 3G area.
