@saltyNZ would be great to get your input as to how 2D for example determines compatibility when it comes to this device?

@saltyNZ does not do Device testing for compatibility on 2degrees network

Yeah, I'm in the core network design team, I don't really do anything with handsets.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

I can't imagine it'll be much different with what my X200 Ultra was, 5g worked fine. Cannot remember VOWIFI.

I am probably going to get the Vivo over the Oppo for that awesome ultrawide so will post back.

No eSIM support and Android Auto that come to mind

Incorrect, Android Auto works absolutely fine. The only thing that didn't work is Google Timeline, everything else worked absolutely fine.

I see that as a feature 😅

What about circle to search, Gemini etc?

Circle to search didn't work out of the box, but there is a way to get it working. Gemini works, but no "OK Google" to wake it up hands free. Though I think there is either a work around for it, or its since been enabled.

Similar to the X300 Ultra (Global), the X300 Pro is currently 2nd on the DXOmark synthetic tests, but of interest to me is it leading in Lowlight and Telephoto. These two newer phones should take that one step further.

This is due to the large main sensor and a large Telephoto sensor. The Ultra goes one step further like X9 Ultra it uses a 200Mp fairly large sensor both for main and for the Portrait length Telephoto. Also the X9 ultra appears to have a 50Mp 10x Optical Zoom sensor/lens. The X300 Ultra has the availability of a 200mm and 400mm Zeiss teleconverter add ons.

Both look very good. The only thing that seems to be missing is a higher Mohs score. So far only the 25Ultra uses Corning Gorilla Armor 2 which got a MOHS score of 6 (very tough and hard to scratch). However with a screen protector and a good case they shouldn't be a concern provided usual precautions,

The X9 Ultra also has BT 6.0 and a much higher battery active use score from GSMarena.

I was considering the X300 Ultra (Global), but now the X9 Ultra also peaks my interest.

I wouldn't be putting much stock in what DXO says about anything, they lost all credibility some time ago.

Through Jermaines Lens is the only person you need to listen to what it comes to camera photography. Or Juan Bagnell.

I don't care too much about the cameras on either Find X9U or X300U although both are true flagship specs in those aspects, I mainly care about the battery size which Find X9U takes the cake and yet they are cheaper than the X300U on the global version.

Has anyone pulled the trigger yet on either Ultras? The seller on Ali has been pretty useless in responding to my chat so might consider getting from giztop or geekwills although by the sounds of others experiences, giztop may be a better option.

true, thats pretty generic though, a bit like saying "google is your friend"

if you look at what they test and how you can get some good results from their reviews. If you want real world opinions, I think GSMarena is pretty good and I like the personal opinions from Kimovil which is where you get the best components list, which is important when judging sensors, imo Sony do the best sensors.

yeh fair call. It is substantial. GSMarena test the X300U at 15 hours active use, where the X9U scores circa 20 hours. My S25U is around 15hours, Im a light user but listen to podcasts over night etc and general use during the day, with an 85% charge, I get 2 days use. I can imagine if using 100% I could possibly get 3 days use on the X9U, but likely for most 2 days is probably more realistic, of course some people do mobile gaming etc.

I've just starte watching WomanTechFan, she does pretty in-depth reviews of the whole phone and not just the camera. Enjoy watch.

GSMarena video reviews are pretty thorough. I will check that reviewer out :-)

The cameras and battery plus the awesome snap dragon platform really separate the X9U from anything else. although the x300 with the two teleconverter add ons also seperate them, if Telephoto photography is important.

I see this model comes with International Warranty Service and NZ is one of the countries that can offer warranty repairs. Does this mean a phone like the X9 Ultra from Asia should therefore be fixable in NZ? Even though NZ doesn't sell this model?

A good question to raise with Oppo NZ.
