Snackos:

Still nothing for me. Stupid Vodafone.

Why are you blaming Vodafone?

Got home from an all day accounting workshop in the city to find husbands Mate 20 Pro has had the 9.1 upgrade pushed through, so hopefully now I'm home and on wifi, mine isn't too far away.

Only thing about automatic upgrades/updates is when you have a SIM PIN and the phone updates in the middle of the night. It won't connect to the mobile network until next time you try to use the phone. I always worry about missing a call on that time the phone is disconnected.

Not a Huawei problem - any phone really.

Just received it here. 2Degrees phone running on Vodafone. I had to manually check for it.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

My update has come through now on my Mate 20 Pro. Will do the 4gb download when I'm not at the pub.

I got mine last night.

Inital impressions...
My security settings got reset.
Icons seem boxier.
Folders seem bigger.

Vowifi icon improvements are nice. Takes a bit to get used to.
Unfortunately it does now push the WiFi symbol outside of view.

Awesome update.

  • 30x zoom - dubiously useful results but nice to have
  • MOON MODE! Take a photo of the moon and try it out
  • ARK compiler/EROFS - device seems faster in use and anecdotally to have better battery life both in use and standby, animations are much smoother
  • Always-on Display now shows third-party notifications
  • Power button can activate Google Assistant
  • HiSearch now has a translucent background
  • Gallery supports AI video creation - swipe up on a video, it has produced amusing results in my brief testing
  • Icons are now consistent - no more circles for third party apps and squircles for Huawei's - apply a P30 theme to complete the look if you're so inclined

This brings the Mate 20 Pro up to the P30 Pro's level. Aside from cameras/improved in-display fingerprint scanner/different design/RAM+storage variations, there's not a lot between them, which makes the Mate 20 Pro an especially good deal given the pricing we've seen recently. Plus 1440p, 3D face unlock, and dual speakers to boot.

Didnt know these ones.

move to Ark may explain why apps acted weird at first. seems to have settled right down.

30x zoom, is that really all that useful? I'd personally prefer the added zoom to the 40mp camera...

Very pleased to have 3rd party notifications in the always on display.  I don't know how many times I checked to try to make that happen when I first got mine!  Will have to have a play with zoom and AI video.

The best use-case I've found for X-TREEM zoom levels is to shoot out of the windows of planes.

Phone seems faster and the battery life appears to be much better (not that i was complaining).

Camera 30 x zoom is awesome. AI on videos is good.

Really liked the fact that I can see the right 3rd party notifications on screen.
