SlowGlass:

hio77: Software upgrade last night. Do not do.

It bricks contact less payments... Not impressed.

I have the same problem with my mate 20 since the 9.1.0.342 (AUSC636E11R2P1) update this week,

1) google pay does not work

2) google play says my device is not certified --> CTS profile match fails

however NAB pay on my phone works

contacted Huawei customer support, they told me to uninstall the google play update, did not fix the problem

not sure what to do now.

This is a warranty issue. Tell Huawei you need it sorted under warranty.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

This is happening with some devices, out of the blue. Tell Huawei you want it fixed - they should reflash the device.

I've got one of their engineers due to call me on my issues.

I got pretty frustrated with their support folk. They are trying but their processes are out of date.
Eg they were quoting fixes for google services 17.x release that was actually broken even though I had 19.x

I have noticed under Google pay General settings it was set to default country to USA and I changed it to new zealand profile. I have to try Google pay again to check if that helps.

Mine upgraded and now it fails Google Pay. Very frustrating. I'll be contacting Huawei for warranty.

Here's the response from Huawei. I still fail cts profile so I don't think this solves the problem.

Dear Matthew,

- Regarding Google Pay Failure

The recent update to Google Play Services has led to Google Pay issues on Android devices, kindly follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Go to Settings > Apps > Apps, touch the three dots at the top right corner and select Show system processes select Google Play services, then touch Disable. You may perform this step as often as needed. If Disable button is greyed out, select the three dots at the
top right corner and select "Uninstall updates"
Still, in settings go to Device Connectivity, then enable NFC and select your default payment app
While still in settings, go to Apps > Apps > Select Google Play > Go to Storage and select Clear Cache
Then restart your phone
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this update. Feel free to reach our friendly consultants at 0800451199 or visit us here.

This is similar to what happened to my Huawe P30 Pro and happening overseas for similar devices.

I am not sure this is a Google Pay update problem. I didn't have an update and it just stopped working. I have asked Huawei for comments.

Huawei's customer support rang me today and told me their engineers are working on this; they will release a new update to fix the Google Play not certified issue. However no ETA is available at this stage.

Looks like quite a few Huawei users have been affected already

And meanwhile there is nothing we can do other than wait for the new release...
