It's very difficult to get Google warranty here. I think it would have to be sent to a county where is officially supported for any repairs.

that makes any grey importer who does 2 year warranty worth any extra cost Id imagine, if any do.

In theory all those guys are obligated under the CGA no matter where they get the goods. In practice you'd have to be somewhat determined to get the CGA honored even in cases where it is minimal cost to them like a post-warranty replacement program.

True. On the other hand, there are no other phones with a big sensor like the Pixels 1/1.31" under $1k.

Its kind of how my Galaxy died but I didnt mind so much as it was out of updates, but with the 7 major updates I dont know if I would be so unconcerned if it occurred soon after warranty period.

With that in mind, which would be the best Parralel importer for someone to buy from to get a 2yr warranty? (if any do) It seems stock levels are getting very low now, which is understandable with the product cycles.

Parallel Imported Ltd do extended warranty from 2-4 years at a reasonable kind of cost. I have purchased at least two Pixels from them over the years. I believe they're the biggest.

PBTech have been importing Pixel in recent years. I think they do max three years extended.

Timmmay's experience buying indirectly from JB Aust is promising. That might be a tempting risk if it looks good at launch.

I really wouldn't buy a pixel in New Zealand. Buy something supported here.

If you must, choose the retailer who's been around a long time with a reputation for good warranty support.

While I had a good experience with JB, I wouldn't count on that happening every time. I was surprised they helped at all

yeh same, it was a gamble for sure, that paid off.

but the last gen galaxy had the same issue.

Im not too worried about support past 1 year. I just want to know it starts off working. I rang Parralel Importers, they said would take 2 weeks to get one in. Einfotech, they have some in bay blue, ive never bought of them, but Ive not heard bad things either?

People here who still have or have had a Pixel 8 Pro for the most part have bought it not supported locally beyond the grey importers warranty.

There are quicker phones, better gaming phones, but I think the Pixels still have the best security and the camera is still up there at the top given it gets the updates the 9 pro does. And graphene is really tempting.

I did consider an S24 FE, but its sort of half baked at everything, especially the cameras.

I gave it some thought and with what everyone is saying about no local support from Google, and the Pixel8 having 5g issues and such from the start, maybe its not a sensible buy and its better to wait for the 10 to be released to push the 9 pricing down into my ~$1k budget limits on phones. Is a shame as the pixel 8 pro is a lovely screen with brilliant cameras, but it is what it is. The 9 seems to be having less issues....

S25 screen and camera are much the same as the pixel 8. Most phones these days are very similar for a similar price point.

The only thing I miss from the pixel is enhanced Google keyboard voice typing. It's ok on the s25 just not quite as good.

As far as I'm aware that was always going to be p9 only.

I purchased by Pixel 8 Pro a few months ago for $1100 from The Phone Warehouse and though it was a great deal then - now it's down to around $990 from them and Expert Infotech. Compare that to around $1670 for the Pixel 9 Pro XL and I think it's a much better deal.

I got the Pixel 8 Pro for the cameras though, and not much has changed on the Pixel 9 Pro XL. I also wouldn't know about any 5G issues - I have it turned off and don't have any need more than 4G.
