Zipdisk:
540trickzter: JB Hi-Fi says they will be getting the 4G LTE model around late July early August.

Is it really worth it with the very limited rage of 4G here and No 700Mhz band, I think the E has a SD slot does the new Moto G 4g have the same.?

I thing why we don't get the 16GB version here is the price will be to high.

The Moto G 4G only comes in 8GB with a micro SD slot.

There is currently no 700Mhz 4G in NZ, the european version of the Moto G 4G supports the currently used NZ LTE bands.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

Moto G 4G has MicroSD slot, LTE and comes in White aswell. Other than that, it's exactly the same as the original.

I only stay in the main cities, so lack of 700mhz doesn't bother me as this phone should last me until next year when Google release their Android Silver flagship with Snapdragon 810 SoC.

Launch plans for 4G mobile broadband over 700MHz
Tuesday, 15 July 2014, 2:25 pm
Press Release: Telecom New Zealand

Telecom announces launch plans for 4G mobile broadband services over 700 MHz

Telecom, soon to be Spark New Zealand, announced today it intends to launch new 4G services in late August that will extend and accelerate the rollout of high speed mobile broadband across New Zealand.

This is intended less densely populated and rural areas

 like Kapiti where I live.

8GB storage rather  limits the Ext SD card for Media files only,  a lot of games hold there Data on internal ram.

FYI: Moto G OTA Android 4.4.4 update just installed without a hiccup. I have a UK import "first gen" Moto G (not 4G) - and they are rolling out the 4.4.4 update by regions.

UI Changes:

  • Updated Phone dialer application and minor changes to People application
  • Ability to pause video recording
Other details: https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/100575

PS: EDIT: I have the 8GB version - I really wish I had bought the 16GB version (8GB fills up faster than you might think - I have to keep deleting photos, videos, and apps).

I just installed the 4.4.4 update on my Moto G.

One of the nice touches is that it has fixed the Notification bar issue for dual sim phones.

Previously it would show an error when there was only one sim installed.

Many people have asked how to hide the second sim in the Notification bar. Well here is your answer: install android update 4.4.4.

I'll wait and see what Motorola announces next month.  Rumor is that it will be a 5" version.  If it does NZ LTE I'll be a buyer..

The new Moto G (www.engadget.com/2014/09/05/new-moto-g/) is now out. Yes, it keeps the same name with upgraded specs; no mention about its connectivity so unsure if it's NZ LTE compatible.

I am now inclined towards the current NZ LTE model due to the new model equipped with larger screen (5") but the same sized battery (2,070 mAh). My concern is that the battery life may be compromised.

Does the new model interest you in any way? Would you prefer the current one over the new model, like I do? Please share your thoughts.

Hmm, new one looks great, although I've read 2 reports on it and one says it is LTE capable and one says it is not. If it is then LTE capable then I'll be buying.

EDIT: It looks like there is no LTE version, and Motorla are being coy about if there will be an LTE version in the future.

I was quite interested in upgrading my Nexus 4 to the new 5"  Moto G but the lack of LTE is a killer.   Maybe  like the 2013 Moto G it will arrive  about May 2015  but I hope not so long..  The Moto X is another option  but it will be price too high in NZ and my not have NZ LTE as well..

Why can manufacturers not resist leaving screen size alone?  I always thought that part of the Moto G's success was because it wasn't 5".  Not everyone wants a 5" screen

My son was keen to get one but screen size has put him off.
