I'm waiting on any progress on my order of an S22+ (Green 256GB) placed on the Thursday last week, haven't had any email at all since the order confirmation one - everything it just stuck on 'processing'...

I emailed the estorenz address earlier this week and haven't had any response either. Pretty disappointing.

Anyone else still waiting on a phone from Samsung?

Ordered green S22 on 28th along with the free case and 25w wall charger. Hasn't budged off 'order placed' since. With all the SP discourse I decided to order one today and that's already coming up as 'preparing dispatch'.

At some point this afternoon my online order has changed to preparing dispatch on all items. I ordered:

S22+ 256gb - black
25W charger - black
Galaxy buds 2 - black
Protective case - blue

Weird I'll likely get this before my in store contingency order I placed almost 2 weeks earlier arrives but I'm happy there's finally some movement.

Edit: order was placed on 28/2

@brownie112 -- Ah apologies, I was thinking it was for the Ultra, which is what I've got here. In that case the case has a P cutout vs the much more pleasing (I think) individual or semi-individual cutouts on on other cases.

I honestly think it looks great for the S22 with the single long cutout -- still not sure about the kickstand (though haven't used it), but definitely better than nothing!

I have the Tough Armour on my S22U.  Aesthetics of large P cutout don't concern me.  I agree the it makes the lenses look a bit vulnerable but I am not certain whether in practice it all that much more exposed than the lens on my S8 was (also a Spigen case).  Had no problems that (not that I was into dropping it a lot!  Perhaps  twice in 5 years?.

With the S22U if one lens did get damaged at least there are still another four 😀 <\Joking> / touch wood.

TBH looking at the layout of the lenses & flash, and the thickness of the back of the case, it would be a challenge to have individual cutouts and maintain the needed clearance around the wide angle lenses & flash.  Would be some very thin separations between some cutouts.

OtterBox Defender Series Case has an even larger (rectangular) cutout.

Some interesting efforts with the S22U camera

My own quick attempt at a moon shot a short while ago (hand held 100x zoom).  Be interesting to know how much less blur there would be if phone was on a tripod?

Edit:  S22U of course.

yup i still marvel at how good the cameras are.

considering how good the zoom has become,

the biggest improvement is not the zoom but the front camera.

Re bolded text.  Seems very risky?

Once registered, anyone could use the pen to unlock the phone?

No pin or fingerprint required.

I thought that it was risky too but when trying it out every time you take spen out from phone and go to use you need to put pin in or use fingerprint sensor for first use and then after that if spen out of phone just click button to unlock.

Ah, that is a bit safer.  Takeaway being, don't walkaway leaving the pen beside the phone!

Did mean to add in my initial reply that the utility of if seems fairly limited.  Scarcely any less effort than putting a finger or thumb on the scanner?

Yes it does seem a bit limited unless using spen a lot and is easier to just use fingerprint scanner and does mean if leave your phone behind and forget to put pen back in very insecure, good idea but not practical to use.

Minor update on the Monarch CF / 22 Ultra combo.
It seems to have trouble with my wireless chargers.
It still charges, but does heat up the phone a lot more than with other cases and makes the charging extremely slow (I'm seeing 1% per 10 mins or so, where it's normally about about 1% per 100 seconds i.e. about 6x slower -- it's just a normal 5W charger).

Still a good case, just worth keeping in mind if you normally charge wirelessly!

Might need another thread for my question off the back of this, but is it possible for a phone in a case to damage a charging pad?

We've had no issues with our in car one until we put my partners s22 in silicon cover on it. Hers was intermittently getting charged and whipping the cover off solved that so I put it down to proximity. But now my pixel 3xl does the same thing and that's not happened in the 3 years we've been using it. I'm wondering if the pad just started playing up coincided with her new phone or if it could have caused it.

Hmmm can't imagine that a phone could hurt the charger. Maybe if it was extremely poorly built or got very hot, but it seems unlikely even then -- as far as I know it's just some electronics, which will almost certainly tolerate 75C or more and a coil, which would only really fail mechanically. That said, I'm not an expert on wireless chargers so someone else may be able to provide a more informed opinion.

@DS248

Yeah, I doubt that it would have any meaningful impact on protection for the lenses. Certainly for a normal drop it's the same and a jagged rock or other sharp thing is probably relatively bad news for the camera region no matter what kind of cutout you have.

So 100% a vanity/looks thing for me (I guess a how much dust and grime does it collect thing a little bit too).
I don't mind how UAG does it with semi-individual cutouts, but the official samsung cases definitely have the best implementation looks-wise in that area for my eye. No interference for camera usage and individual cutouts for all lenses! (actually a couple have a combined cutout for the AF/flash/3x cluster)

Out of interest how is the kickstand on the tough armour?

Bought the Samsung Screen Protector which comes with two included. Watched the video multiple times, prepared meticulously and executed and bubbles everywhere. Tried everything. Couldn't get below 2 bubbles, one quite big. Two hours later there are 5 or 6 bubbles.

Can't see how we could have done it any differently.

Not too happy right now.
