I just use shipito as the shipping company and Tor for the browser - just make sure it connects you from the US. But then you can't pay with a NZ credit card or paypal so there is that issue.

I just had a great idea, order TWO! As shipping is a major cost of this then ordering one with a friend would significantly reduce the per unit cost ;-)

but then I felt awful once I realised it would blow the top off the $400 gst exemption threshold

grrr... damn you government with your regulations and taxes!

A question about the lack of a microSD card: if I am on a bus with my Nexus 7, is there an easy way to stream movies which are on my cellphone to my tablet for me to then watch on it?

That depends on your phone..

If the Nexus 7 has USB OTG support you could probably watch movies off a portable hdd though

They're already hitting eBay, at ridiculous markups of course, but if Google blocks NZ cards, that might be one way around it, once supply brings the eBay prices down.

lokhor, assuming my phone is a recent/mainstream one such as something from the Galaxy series then would it work and how?

Also, been reading about USB-OTG & I'm very pleased to find out the Nexus 7 does have it!

I'm now back to leaning towards the 8 GB Nexus 7 over the 16GB edition.

Yes, sorry, omitted "credit" - someone in the thread has already said that their NZ credit card was not accepted, and paypal is not an option either apparently.

As noted in other threads about how to get Hulu here, there are ways around the credit card issue.

Research left as an exercise for the reader.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

visiting the site mentioned in the Hulu Plus thread, I see that it offers only prepaid cards for various services, with Google Play not being listed as one of them. I'm still very interested to know of sites that sell general purpose prepaid credit cards for US sites, given that a Nexus is substantially more than the $25 gift cards featured on that site.

EDIT

It seems that a service like Entropay is required in this situation
