It's a "known issue" but the repair agents aren't doing it - as the OP here experienced.

Samsung might know about it but the NZ repair agents didn't read the memo.

Plus we don't know exactly that the problem is and how widespread it is. But if it is something that could affect the life of the product and is hardware/manufacturing related(thus a defect), they should be doing something about it, such as posting an announcement on their website. We don't know if the same fault is in all phones, leading to the possibility that all phones could potentially fail, or just affecting certain batches. But perhaps it is still too soon to know.
