Does it look just as good melted? The heat issues this thing is apparently having will certainly ensure it isn't on a lot of peoples to buy list

One website ran a bunch of synthetic performance tests on pre-production hardware, running pre-production firmware, using a device likely manufactured when Snapdragon were having admitted overheating issues with the 810 SOC, and you translate that to "the phone has a major flaw"?

Ah, the old famous no final software excuse. HTC have used it before, purple dots on screen, poor camera, always claiming the final software will resolve these issues. You know what happened? Nothing. They weren't fixed. Just like this won't be fixed.

I am not sure how an over heating chip is HTC's fault. Samsung I think tried to make a few waves to put people off when they suggested the snapdragon has heat issues. Perhaps in Samsung devices. Don't LG use the same chip with no issues. A hardware revision will probably sort it out and that is Qualcomm's area.

I have had a Desire HD, One M7, and will get a One M9. All of your so called issues have never affected my phones or the use of my phones. In fact the wife still uses the Desire HD and will get the One M7 when it is upgraded to the M9.

Software updates are part and parcel of technology. A Windows server build I did the other day had 180 Windows Updates, and not to mention 4 firmware upgrades.

Sure. Okay. Don't buy one then. Honestly, if you're only interested in moaning and casting aspersions about the phone and it's manufacturer, then I suggest you find something else to do because that's pointless. Don't you have anything better to do?

The device will get hotter than plastic devices as metal is a superior conductor over plastic.
So isn't this fuss over nothing? It will also cool down faster as well.

It will conduct heat through the body of the device to the hand that is holding it. If it does indeed get to 50+ degrees celcius then I wouldn't want to be holding it. Having said that, it's likely NOT an issue, as a) there were known Snapdragon 810 overheating issues which have now been resolved, b) it was only happening when running a highly processor intensive synthetic benchmark (did not even occur in high-demand gaming situations, for example) and c) it was a pre-release device that it happened with, in ONE test, by ONE reviewer.

The LG flex is also running the 810 and also has overheating/throttling issues. Its a shame because i was considering the M9 but if it turns out to be true then its off the list, i hope the rumor is true and the G4 has gone with its own SOC.
HTC are hosting a special event in the US in the early hours of tomorrow morning, promising a big surprise. Wondering what that could be.

Not really sure how it's moaning. Just pointing out the facts. Moaning would be knowing about the issues, buying the phone still and then complaining about said issues.

Right, back on laptop now... Plenty of photos from the event last night here in Sydney.

The HTC One will be available 7 April (New Zealand). It looks really nice, and I have a gold on silver unit on me - haven't setup it yet because I want to do it over WiFi instead of restoring apps over a roaming Vodafone connection :(

If you want a reviewer for the M9 as you have done for the previous models, I'm in.

And I see HTC are offering Uh Oh guarantees in the US where they will replace a damaged M9 within the first 12 months. I wonder if that will be offered here as well?
