Less than 24 hours until HTC announces its 2015 iteration of its fabulous One range of phones (I admit I'm a long time HTC fan).
I am most excited that it is going to fix the only major flaw that my M7 has, the camera.
Not sure about the rumoured shift of the power button to the side. It's not so much the move as whether or not they will retain the IR capability that my M7 has as I use it not infrequently.

Looking forward to 4am local tomorrow.

I also hope they manage to partition HTC from android from carrier parts of the firmware in sense 7 so that the meandering pace of updates can be sped up.

If SGS6 turns out to only have internal memory without micro sd, then going with M9 will be an easy decision (I currently have M8), although I would've liked M9 to come with a QHD screen and slightly bigger screen size, so may have to wait for M9+. The leaked M9 hands on video looks nice, with silver front and back with gold around the edges.

It will be a happy day in my world when I can buy a top line phone and choose pure Android or skinned Android

If the OEM's had so much faith in the need of their skins then surely everyone would go that route thus proving the worth of OEM skinning, if not revert to pure google, no one is upset with Motorolas approach these days, HTC and Samsung need to take note

I haven't got caught up in the usual plethora of leaked specs etc of M9 & S6. TBH I'm still loving my M7, Im hopign the M9 hits one out of the ballpark and I have no option but to upgrade :P

With my very recent microSD experience on a HTC M8 I would rather have a device with large internal memory than external card.

The camera has to be a lot faster - as Lumia fast because as it is (M7 purple, M8 slow) it is kind of a joke.

There is a plus version coming as well as I understand it, with a bigger QHD screen.

I've compared HD against QHD on mobiles and I can't tell any meaningful difference. And given QHD requires more battery power, why bother? Or maybe it's just my old eyes

if this is genuine then no major changes apart from camera on the back and a better front facing for selfies, should i  roll my eyes at that.

It may well be nothing much tomorrow for either Samsung and HTC shame really

I haven't had any issues with the micro sd card in my M8 so far (sandisk 64GB), I'd be happy with anything more than the 4 ultra pixel camera and I think this time around, HTC could be using either a Sony or Toshiba sensor for their main shooter, so I'd imagine quality would be heaps better.

At the moment it is looking like the M9 is going to be the upgrade of choice from my Nexus 5. Although I will be swayed if Samsung really provide a compelling reason to go their way.

So announced at 4 this morning (no I didn't get up especially).

Pretty much as leaked over the past couple of weeks. An iterative improvement on the 7 and 8. In happy they stick with FHD screen and improved the camera. But it appears the lens sits proud of the back, which is a pita from my perspective. Still it will be going in a case anyway if I get one. I cope with 32GB internal storage so might not even need an SD card.
5.1 sound really? Still haven't determined about the IR capability. And it's only got minimal dust and waterproofing.

Still a nice design although in the tech world, three models with the same design language will be considered dated.

HTC's Sense 7 still looks like a pretty heavy handed overlay of Android.

Be interested to compare with the S6 which is being announced as I type. (Although I expect now I have seen the first releases on the S6 that the M9 is going to get swamped).

@evleaks seems to be wrong on this occasion as he leaked a big one with a buttons and the smaller one looked similar to that without buttons. On the previous iterations he has been spot on and I thought we were going to see a more major than we for redesign.

From the announcements this morning, my current thinking is HTC M9 >> Samsung S6 Edge >> Samsung S6.

What does it for me is that the M9 hits the nail on the head for what I wanted in the way of upgrades for my device. Coming from my Nexus 5, I need good battery life (a 1080p display helps this, not a 4K), a good camera, expandable storage (I have been working with 16gb for too long), and front facing speakers (I consume a lot of media on my phone).

All in all I am pretty pleased. Can't wait to hear when it will be due in NZ.

The only negative I can think of is the 9mm thickness. Otherwise, looks great. Pity about Sense, but there always is the google now launcher. Definitely my pick over the S6, as has bigger battery and SD slot.

Yeah, Sense I am not too worried about until I see it in person. In previous iterations of Samsung devices and HTC devices I always preferred Sense over Touchwiz. However I NovaLauncher skin all my phones anyway so it generally becomes a moot point.
