Disrespective:

I wonder if there is ever the chance of seeing an API from Metservice so we can develop our own apps/access the raw data? @MetServiceComms

Someone on another forum I use developed a simple and free android app NZ Marine Weather that uses Metservice data to provide coastal forecasts.

We are working towards APIs for our open data set, but I don't have a time-frame for that just yet. Our own apps take priority, obviously :)

With the current Severe Weather situation bringing the usual very high levels of traffic to our website, we're taking extra (extra) precautions with our final rounds of load testing ahead of launch. Highest ever sessions & page impressions on our website 2 days in a row last Tue/Weds! Stay tuned and I'll keep you updated.

Cheers

Thanks for the update Jacqui. Looking forward to the new app! However as a long time paid user, I fully agree with the consensus for a paid ad-free/premium option and do hope you guys consider doing this.

Tick tock... yawn.
Make a great app or make the data available to third parties please.

Hi guys - looks like today is the day! Thanks for your patience - we did have a few other things to deal with over the Easter break ;)

Check app stores later this afternoon ...!

App is live in the iOS store. Looks great to be honest.

Its disappointing this new version now includes ads for existing customers who paid to download the app.

It appears Jacqui has a starring in the app.... avatar looks remarkably familiar....

Only 2 - LARGE - ad slots, one of which is advertising the app I've just downloaded.... hmmm.... good app though. Must be good devs ;-)

Gah. The full screen ad with "continue" button when I reopen the app certainly takes the shine off.
PLEASE let me pay for this app. How much can ads possibly earn you per user? I never click them. I will pay to get rid of them.

And my hopes of being able to disable traffic cams were briefly raised, then dashed, when I saw this settings screen. I can reorder them, but not disable. Please let me turn off Traffic Cameras and Metservice TV. Pretty please.
