Looks like early reports of various problems- screen peeling and screens flickering and turning black within days.  Journalist removed a thin protective layer from the screen that they thought was supposed to come off but was meant to stay. Others left thst layer on and it still broke. Phone completely unuseable after 2 days reporters quote.

I love the idea and possibly if Apple had made it when Steve was still in charge, I would have been ok buying a gen 1 device.

As it is.....not so much!

I wander how much is true if they just wanted to wreck it see how far they got... And now being incompetent, they telling world media its broken maybe to get the clicks...
You think Samsung would have done hundreds of hours of testing before they put a product out or maybe they are incompetent

Ahh yes, if only Apple had more beautiful innovation like foldable phones that break after two days.

At least these ones aren’t exploding (yet)…

Unfortunately they haven't done no innovation for 10 years...I use to wait for apple events not any more....even the cheap Chinese manufacturers got more to offer... With there impressive pricing year after year is it really worth it?

There's a good apple rant video guys crying over apple products after being loyal for 10 years plus... I can even post the link if u keen

This is a good real-life review of the phone using it for a day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM_aRS52yk4  . One of the annoying things is that some apps don't autosize when going from small screen, to unfolded mode, and you have to reboot the app. Guessing if apple did this, they would make sure that submitted apps for such a device did, so users have a better user experience.

Similar sorts of things happen when you switch between tablet mode and Dex mode on a Tab S4.

I believe it’s only Samsung and Google apps that are supported.

I saw a review unit which looked like the screen was bulging in the centre and had dead pixels throughout running vertically and horizontally starting at the bulge, the reviewer said he thinks it might be the fold mechanism failing, anyway Samsung knows and asked to have it sent back.

I really don’t trust this device just yet, besides the design reasons I don’t like, I think my initial thoughts being that this essential is a beta test phone and the tech is in its infancy is showing through now after a few days in the wild.

Some ‘failures’ due to reviewers trying to remove the screen protector (not supposed to be removed). Others have had foreign material introduced between the hinge and the screen, while others remain “unexplained”.
Samsung will need to front foot this pretty quickly because people are not going to pay $3000 to be alpha testers for the new technology that potentially fails way too early.

Hmmm don't know if it's true...
Maybe I should wait, I expect within 6 months similar devices and half the prices

Apparently the fold has been delayed from its initial date of 26th April... Says "weeks" , don't know what they could do to fix it....
