Signs are looking good. Which model did you order?

There is a global shortage of the blue thanks to it being enormously popular in China, a first for OnePlus who usually sell well in the US and Europe, they sold over 100k in the first day of pre-sales on JD. Thankfully pre-sales for NZ are covered, but it's running out fast.

That's a good question, albeit probably one that deserves a separate thread. Goes like this:

  • The V50 is a single SIM 5G device
  • NZ does not have 5G yet and will not until probably late next year
  • The V50 is also an interesting phone with a dual screen case
  • I am both a huge fan of the V-series and have been very interested in dual screen devices for a long time (tiny laptop! return of the pocket PC!)

So realistically it depends whether the phone + case is moonbeams of dollars considering the cost of 5G radios/antennas which are not yet much use in NZ, and we don't yet know if the 5G bands used in the V50 are future-proofed for when it does go live here - would be more appealing if dual SIM since then you could get 5G in Australia eh!

I got the 8/256 Nebula Blue variant. Have a contact within PB so was lucky enough to reserve one before pre orders went live. Hoping I will be able to get it before my 9 hour flight. Would be an awesome way to kill the time.

Hey, it's a great choice - really differentiated against Samsung and Huawei, cheaper than both, faster updates, crazy screen, I reckon you'll be very happy with it. Hope you've got enough stuff to watch and play on the flight, though it won't take long to load on there with UFS 3.0...and let me know through the grapevine if you need some noise cancelling headphones to go with.

Cheers for that. Yeah I currently have the OP3, so it will be quite a jump in improvements for me. The OP3 is an amazing phone so I can only imagine what the OP7 Pro will be like with its 90hz screen. I got a few thing loaded up ready to drop on the phone as soon as I get it. Also does it come with the US warp charger? If so, then that's perfect. I won't need travel adapter!

Colleague in the PB dev team has been clinging to his 3T since launch and might finally be making the jump to the 7 Pro. Credit where it's due, the 3 and 3T have received tremendous software support from OnePlus with Pie dropping recently, great track record.

NZ stock is the UK/EU variant rather than US, so unfortunately you will still need that adapter.

Ah well no biggie. I can always use my Dash charger from my OP3 which is a US variant while overseas. Yeah it's great to see them actually make good on their promises to the update schedules for their phones. It gives buyers a lot more confidence going into it, that their phone will last a long time and stay secure with the security patches

Really like the look of the V50, surprised they didn't make a full international version. I've been half tempted to the give the V40 a try. Still no G8 release date?

Hi guys, just a quick question. Are we getting stock on 7th at Pbtech? Still no display units at pbtech. Noel leeming is changing release dates frequently.

Finally got a look at the Nebula Blue OnePlus 7 Pro in person, and wow, the gradient looks MUCH nicer than it appears in photos - dark blue at the top fading to lighter blue at the bottom, reminds me of the original Twilight P20 Pro. I am not surprised there's a global shortage.

Will see if I can snap some pics that accurately depict the colour tomorrow.

Do you want to start an LG thread? Few updates on both counts I could share.

So just went to PB tech Manukau and bought their last nebula blue 12gb and this thing is just insane. Always like to take a step back to marvel at technology as it is all too common for consumers chasing the latest and greatest to not be able to appreciate tech.

Tis a shame that Warp charger is not NZ version, but did receive an Oppo fast charger with it.

My OnePlus 7 pro is changing on my desk this morning thanks to PBTech overnighting it to the lower North Island. Surprised and very happy they shipped it last night. Cheers.

Only other info I have is the 7 pro is decidedly larger than my iPhone 6s. Looking forward to getting back into Android after a nearly 4 year break.
