thanks for the reply Kiwitrc; i had a good look back a page (i can always miss something lol), but can't find anything new.

- Retries not worked
- send first pxt to yourself not work (from another thread in uk)
- populating the server field as well
- matched the external link from forum.vodafone.co.nz and they are the same

In short, have the apn settings above and my mms doesn't work, data on the other hand is rocking along but ....

thoughts?

Have you got both APN entries in? You need 2 to be able send MMS.

Also both MNC settings are supposed to be 01, there is one missing in the list

hye.

Fat fingers! But yea the other entry is stock standard and until i put that in, no data web surfing etc. I do have an 01 loaded.

... tis a bit iof a mystery.

Try re-entering the "MMS proxy" for your APN 2 settings. I believe I may have made the same mistake with my settings when I first got my phone too.

I see you have 172.30.38.3, whereas on mine, I have a few extra zeros = 172.030.038.003

Sometimes it's a few zeros that make all the difference. Give that a whirl and see how that goes for you :)

I removed and re-added with full 'spacing' .030. instead of just .30.

I notice that the Web APN has a green button next to it, and the APN for MMS has not; Is this the case on your phone?

damn it though i still receive message

Hmmm... Odd. What have you got for your "MMSC" line? Because I noticed you had http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend posted on page 4, but then you had "MMSC" as 172.30.38.3 on page 5.

These are my exact settings for MMS:

Name: VFNZ MMS
APN: live.vodafone.com
Proxy: (not set)
Port: (not set)
Username: (not set)
Password: (not set)
Server: pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
MMSC: http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
MMS proxy: 172.030.038.003
MMS port: 8080
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 530
MNC: 01
Authentication type: (not set)
APN type: mms

Delete your MMS settings and start afresh with the exact settings above. I found after chucking in "pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend" into the "Server" field, this stopped all the "generic network failures" I was getting previously. For instance, I just sent another test MMS to my gf, and it worked without a hitch, first go.

And yes, there is a green light/button beside the APN for mobile internet, but not for MMS. Methinks maybe the green light indicates an "always on" APN server, whereas the MMS APN is used only when you are sending a pxt? :)

Yea, i had some of the fat fingers affects again... think i've been up to long with this problem! lol

I put your settings in, and still have the problem. Its quite the bugger really, i've deleted the settings and rebooted of course but no result.

Anybody have other thoughts?

Mine are as below, note I had to type "default" in under apn type for APN1 and "mms" under apn type for for APN2. Alos check you havent got any commas where dots should be in your address lines (favourite mistake of mine)

bendigo: Hi everyone,

Just ordered my Desire but not here yet ....
and was wondering what people were using for a twitter app?
I've heard that Touiteur was quite good.
Also I've heard NewsRob is good for google reader ...
Would like your thoughts .... or I'll post mine once I get my phone...

Missed this one in the shuffle...

I don't user Twitter a lot, so the inbuilt HTC app Peep, which integrates into the Friendstream widget is just fine for me. Touiteur is meant to be excellent, as are Twicca and Twidroid by all accounts.

NewsRob is good, particularly if you are a dedicated Google Reader user. If you're not I think its hard to go past NewsRoom, which is what I use.

Thanks kiwitrc. Just sent a mms, and some fails which I'm sure are related to the network.

The difference, the value "default" in the web surfing Apn. Cheers for that.

Just went out for a drive to Bunnings.

Hit voice search, spoke "Bunnings Wellington", got a selection of Bunnings stores, picked the closest, got the address, opened up Maps Brut typed in destination (yeah I already know where it is), hit navigate to.

Turned on music via Bluetooth to my car stereo. Then on with uHud (GPS speed in a Head up display) and off I go.

When I came to a turn the GPS voice interrupted the music to say turn left into Geek Avenue etc, and then resumed the music.

The whole time I was hoping someone would call me to check that bit out.

Sad but true :)

I haven't managed to get Maps brut to 100% work yet. Successfully installed it, and it manages to find the best route and re-route where applicable, but all the street names come up as "Unnamed Street" at the top of the screen, and the voice guidance is shoddy at best. I've only heard it a few times, and when I have heard it, it tells me to turn AFTER I've already made the turn haha... :)

Revo, re Maps brut, mine does the same but displays the name on the actual map, and yeah its timing is usually just as you turn.

When I first setup my Desire, I used a standard gmail account to test with but now want to change it as I want to use the Calendars on the other account. Trouble is when I go delete the acount i dont want, it says I need to reset the phone and that I will lose all my apps and personal data??

Anyone know how to get around this or backup all my downloaded apps etc?
