I get quite a few dropped calls on the Nexus 4 every since owning it and so does a work mate, both on XT. Anyone else seeing this and any ideas on a fix?

Cheers

I'm on XT in Wellington, no issues here. Are you on 4.2.2 yet? Also, are you running an official or custom ROM?

sahyun1: Hey guys

I just received my nexus 4!

Anybody bought decent screen protector which is anti-fingerprint?
I have sweaty hands so I guess those cheap protectors on trademe won't do the job.

And those who don't use the case, do you put back screen protector as well?

ta

I use an Invisible Shield from Zagg (http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/lg-nexus-4-e960-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php). They're not cheap but they're awesome. I've used them on every device I've had and love them. I haven't bothered with a screen guard on my Nexus 4 or the SGS3 I had previous. For me the Gorilla Glass is exceptional at staying scratch free. I get finger prints but just wipe 'em off.  The Invisible Shield is pretty good at keeping the finger smudges under control.

You can buy direct from Zagg, or sometimes the pop up on trademe.

I've used one on my earlier phone an year ago, but I didn't like the rubbery/plasticky feel the skin had. Are the current skins still the same?

I'm on Vodafone in Auckland and haven't had a single dropped call. Actually, that's a lie, I've had a couple at home but they're 'cause I live in the Waitakeres amongst the trees and reception is patchy at best. Every phone I've had loses reception (unless I stand on one leg on the left arm of the couch with one hand on my head facing Mecca...)

Yip, definitely still the same. That's part of the reason I don't put it on the screen. It's a little bit grippy, rubbery and weird. I love it on the back of the phone for those same reasons though. Helps stops the old pull-out-of-the-pocket-quickly-and-fling-across-the-room trick.  I don't like having cases on but I do like having some protection on the back so I don't worry about putting my phone down on any surface.

Oh yeah, got my Nexus wireless charger yesterday. Fairly pricey but I love not fumbling for the usb cord when I turn in for the night. First thoughts? The magnet holding the phone is stronger than I expected - reckon it could hold it upside down! Also, charging overnight it turned off my "daydream" (faded out clock) which I use as a bedside clock. I wondered if it stops charging at some point? Doesn't happen when the phones plugged in. Anyhoo, will have to try a second night to see what happens.

That's awesome! What are your charging times like? Also, believe it or not - there are no magnets holding the phone in place - it's good ol' grip. :)

Awesome, mine is on the way, interesting about the daydreams as that's half the reason I wanted it!

When using a Qi charger, the Nexus 4 will stop charging when it's full.  It will restart when the battery drops to some cleverly determined level.

I suspect it's a desperate bid to increase the otherwise terrible efficiency of wireless chargers.

I'm totally jealous by the way, I'd love one!

I've had my wireless charger for one week now and must say I'm disappointed. It's actually faulty. Now it doesn't work at all but initially it would charge for a few minutes then stop.

I have sent an email to Google support buy no reply after just over a day. Not sure how this will work warranty wise seeing that I purchased fro Google. I'm hoping that they may just send a new one as Amazon did for me when I had a faulty kindle ?? Fingers crossed

I'm 99% sure my issue was related to the Lightflow notification app, rather than the charger. I played with a few settings the other night. I'll disabled it and test tonight.

No magnets you say, insane! I tested it this morning and can hold it completely upside down and it hangs there. Some kind of sorcery at play no doubt!

Charging time is longer than plugged in, I would say 4 hours from empty to full. It works for me as I charge over night.

Sad news about the wireless Orb warranty. I today spoke with Google Play who tell me that the warranty is only valid for units purchased in the USA. So..she says that I would need to send it to someone who lives in the USA and get them to send it on to Google who would in turn send a replacement to that same person who would send to me. I asked if I could send it direct to Google and they said NO.

Entirely not worth it and shocking customer support to boot from Google.

So tonight I purchased a Qi standard wireless charger from www.cbay.co.nz and want to put this affair behind me :-(
