kiwitrc: Seems a batch had a heat problem where after lots of use they go into a reboot loop. You have to remove the battery for 10 mins or so to get back up again.

I've had that problem once. Scared the crap out of me. Happened when I had CoPilot GPS running for about 30min in the car.

Hmmm might be a batch thing eh. I think I got my Desire from Clove around the same time as you too.

I hope I never get that problem again :)

Hi Nathan, yes I think we did get them around the same time. It usually happend to me on GPS usage as well, and with other stuff going on in the background. It started after 2.2 so maybe related to that. I will let you know the outcome

So installed handcent, customized it to look as much like the default messages app as possible :D but meh, still wasnt liking it really. Just some of the UI pretty ugly, message lists not as nice etc etc...

So uninstalled handcent, installed "SMS Popup"... pure awesome! Has all the features from handcent/chompsms that I wanted; better notifications, popups, LED colour, quick reply and all that jazz. Looks nice too, fits with all the standard design.

Solves my "leave messages app open and dont get notifications" problem with style. Awesome app.

God, can't believe I wait so long to get Swype. Hands THE best app you can put on your phone. Makes typing FUN.

Search the webz ;-)

It's around. Download to desktop and install using Astro file manager.

Hey there mate I've just installed cached maps for Rmaps on my desire, I can send you my map file if like? It's zoom level 7 through to 13 for the whole country and zoom level 7 through to 17 for Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Using Google Maps.

It's 195mb. Tell me if you're interested and I'll host it on mediafire or something. It's nearly intstant loading for all areas and zoom levels.

Try Ultra Keyboard by Binary Bulge (It's available in the Market). So far I like it more than Swype.

Hi,

Recently bought my Desire. I notice that the weather is taken from Accuweather.com and that it is not always accurate eg. todays high for Wellington is 17 degrees !! ( whereas local sites say 14). How do I change setting so that it can go to met service?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah that would be good if you could change that! It's pretty useless tbh as it's hardly ever correct.
