If its a flat screen protector (on the 22,22+) it shouldn't really lift.. If it is a 22U curved glass protector and that the glue is only on the surrounding edge of the protector, then yes it might be related.

A few factors to consider here - glass or plastic?
If it is glass and on a curved screen, I have had stellar results with LOCA style protectors on my note 9 - i.e. whitestone dome or similar.
If it's plastic... sounds like shoddy manufacturing.

It's S22 Ultra 5G so curved screen.

It's a gel-based on self-repairing so they tell me.

It always seems to lift initially in the top right corner.

Yes get the gel-based one. I got one off AliExpress for $4 and it's working amazingly.

Already got that. Do you have a case as well?

Can you send me the link to the one you purchased? Is it hard to apply?

Brief observations on the performance of the Zagg InvisibleShield Fusion XTR screen protector on my S22U after a month and a half of use.

  • First up, due to price match and seniors discount I paid ~$58 rather than the standard $79.99 NL asking price
  • Still a lot to pay for a screen protector but did so on the understanding it was significantly better than a standard film type protector.  NL in-store tech support installed the Zagg (part of purchase)
  • Phone is in a Spigen Tough Armor case
  • Overall somewhat disappointed in how the Zagg XTR has performed

    • There is a ~25mm x 10mm area of surface marks that I think were made when I had keys in the same pocket for a day or so (normally deliberately avoid that but it happened).
    • A small diffuse ('milky') mark to the left of the fingerprint reader (haven't tried chemical cleaners or detergents but does not rub off with a soft cloth alone)
    • A small (~5mm vertical x 2-3mm wide) patch of top-left edge keeps lifting off.  Sticks back on (temporarily) when pressed down with thumbnail and doesn't seemed to have got worse (started lifting off a few days after it was installed).  But if dust gets under it at some point it may be more of an issue?  May be because the installer did not get the protector on 'dead centre' at the top.  Looking at the selfie camera cutout, the protector looks to be ~1mm offset to the left at the top (fortunately just clear of obscuring the camera lens), which combined with the curved edge may have contributed to it lifting off?
    • All the above are only really visible with the screen off (black screen) so have not bothered me enough yet to follow up.  But this is early days - after only a month and a half.
    • I can see that the curved edge on the S22U would be a challenge for any film type screen protector (and more so if the phone was not in a case?)

Related:

  • On the advice of a few people here I did order 4x el cheapo hydragel protectors about a month ago off eBay but they are still en route (expected delivery up to mid-March).  If the Zagg XTR gets any worse later down the track I may try one of the hydragel protectors
  • Previous phone was an S8 that received a fairly hard time.  in open pocket while doing heavy gardening, chainsawing, etc.  Got a lot of dust between the phone and case (standard Spigen) and sawdust etc in the USB charge port that needed to be cleaned out every now and then.  Had no screen protector on that phone and the screen survived that treatment amazing well.  Ultimately did develop a very fine scratch ~25mm long but again that was only casually visible with the screen off.
  • Did seriously consider going sans screen protector (but not sans case) with the S22U but general consensus seemed to be that a protector would provide some additional drop protection.  I only dropped the S8 a couple of times at most and never on a surface likely to have scratched the screen so that aspect had not been tested.  At ~3 years, the S8 screen was virtually unmarked (got a harder time after that)

Go with anything that has the title "gel" and it will be mine. I went for the cheapest and nastiest to be honest and it was great. In fact, all gel screen protectors I have bought from Ali have been great. I don't spend more than $5. Usually $5 gives me at least 2 pieces of screen protectors.

Has anyone else had any luck with screen protectors for the S22 Ultra ? Ideally without a case? I will order some cheapies as a backup, but I prefer to get at least one more from a reputable source ideally locally in central Auckland.....  Happy to spend $50 or something.

I have to say, I am impressed with TechPro. Even though their solution didn't work for me, they replaced the protector twice no real questions asked other than recommending me a case each time.

In the end I asked them for a refund and sent my account details and got a refund within 1 day.

I recommend them honestly and would use them again, though possibly not with a curved screen.

Finding my screen protector is letting my fingerprint reader down - does anyone have any suggestions about brands that work best?

Is your sensor sensitivity turned up to accommodate the screen protector layer
