pgs2050: 5.0.1 update came through this morning for my Nexus 4 - about a 16MB download.

Got mine yesterday.  This has that crappy Bluetooth icon, no  groups contact anymore and the clear screen icon is still at the bottom of the page out of sight most of the time..

Just wondered if anyone has seen any apps for controlling wifi and mobile data that get around the stupid new method of switching on/off

Nokia 7 Plus
Nexus 6P 32Gb
Nexus 6 Phone
Nexus 5 Phone
Nexus 7 2013 Tablet
Samsung TAB A 8"
Samsung TAB A 10"

& many Windows laptops, Desktops etc

I use an app called Power Toggles  It worked great with ICS but has issues with turning  off and on cell data with Lollipop, it now a two step operation. All the other functions work fine..

5.01 came in for me over the weekend
Haven't noticed any changes.

I actually uninstalled Power Toggles, as found that the new quick app launcher built in works just as well.

Please elucidate on what you mean by quick app launcher. To activate mobile data I have to two finger pull down form top of screen and select mobile data icon which takes me to a new screen which has a toggle switch at top of page. I toggle it on and escape the screens back to what I want to do. I find that it pays to disable wifi at same time as everytime I walk past a telecom phone box their wifi disables my mobile data which is a pain when I am in middle of a song or listening to radio as I have to unlock phone and start song or radio again.
Have you found an easier way to enable/disable mobile data

One of the main reasons I use power toggles is that it gives me the battery % remaining..  Being able to turn off WiFi and cellular data is a bonus..

5.0.2 has been released for the Nexus 7 (2012) which looks to fix the poor performance issues in 5.0.

No word if it has started rolling out as an OTA update but it can be found here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

I flashed it last night and first impressions are that it is a vast improvement.

Two finger swipe down gives you battery percentage and a short cut to usage

Up until Lollipop i always used switchpro but have not bothered as stock 5.0 does all i need

What you've described was how Android dealt with captive portals pre Lollipop. With the changes in Lollipop what you described isn't possible as it no longer works this way.

Prior to Lollipop when you connected with a WiFi network with a captive portal WiFi would connect and you would have to open your browser to authenticate. Until you did this you couldn't use mobile data either as WiFi took priority. With Lollipop this is no longer the case.

In Lollipop when your phone connects to a captive portal a notification will appear. You need to tap this notification to open a browser window to authenticate yourself. Until you do this your phone will continue to use mobile data, and just opening the browser will continue to use mobile data, and not WiFi.

This is a change that's long overdue and how a phone should function, but it's something that has become very, very confusing for many people.

Dingbatt: Not quite a rollout as I had to go and find it and install. But my ancient TF101 ASUS Transformer is now rocking Lollipop courtesy of Katkiss 5.0 by Timduru. Early days yet and it is still a work in progress, bit all seems to be running properly so far.

Took the plunge and updated my TF101 to 5.0.1 yesterday. Very nice!!

I discovered one thing today after my Nexus 4 update to Lollipop 5.0 and 5.0.1  that my contacts and  movies would not sync and get a sync error.  v After a bit of online research this appears a common problem.  in the finish I had to  reset Google Play back to factory default and create my  Google account again.  Now everything  has synced and the last movies is syncing as it's about 5 minutes it will take some time..  Then I'll update Play again and see what happens..
