NikT: I'll check the SD card/camera biz out sometime this week. Try holding down the multitasking key for menu.

Yup, tried that and it doesn't seem to do anything.

I'm very happy with this phone but now that the Ultra has come out I might give the Prime to my partner and get myself the Ultra (just for the bigger screen, longer battery life (which is important for me), and speed increase).  But this time I'll keep an eye on The Warehouse and see if they have it at a discounted price like they did for the Prime!

Did Google make changes to how the notification LED works in Lollipop?  I've just noticed that when a new email comes in, or a new text message or whatever, the LED on my Smart Prime doesn't flash to alert me to the fact.  My old S3 used to light the screen up so I could instantly see what the notification was, and then shut the screen off after several seconds but keep the LED flashing so I could see there was a notification waiting for me.

Got the smart prime unlocked and working with my 2 degrees sim. I have the snapper microsim and, unlike any of my other phones, the snapper app can communicate with the snapper sim and see it has a zero balance. I've tried putting the phone against the parking meters to see if it can read the snapper balance, but it did not detect the snapper. Not sure if this is because of the zero balance though. Has anyone else tried this or know if it may work?

MurrayM: I've found a new camera app that allows me to save photos directly to the SD card, so it's definitely possible in Lollipop.

Which camera did you end up going for? I'm also having a look around at a SD enabled camera for mine.

Cheers,

G

We're working at getting the Vodafone Smart prime tested and approved by Semble, hopefully won't be long, and Snapper is coming to Semble in the next coming of weeks.

lokhor:
MurrayM: What's the hole/slot on the back of the Smart Prime for (lower left corner)?

That's for the speaker

How's the audio quality of the speaker on your unit? As I mentioned, the sound on the one I bought is really poor - there's an additional vibration going on, so even standard Android ring tones sound quite different to other phones. I'm assuming this is a fault, but am interested if others report similar issues.

I have only played a bit of Youtube on it but seems pretty ok, not amazing but probably better than my Elephone P7000 speaker

Settings/Storage/Default storage location will save photos directly to the SD card.

What happened with prime will not be happening with ultra anytime soon.

Thanks for the tip, that works on the Elephone as well :D

I don't have a "Default storage location" under "Settings/Storage".

I have an "Internal Storage" section with a graph and then break down of the files types and how much they're using, an "SD Card" section with a graph and total/available space, then an "Unmount SD card" and "Erase SD card" options.  Nothing about setting default storage.  The phone sees the SD card fine and I can copy files to and from it, and it reports available space for it, but that's it.

Interesting - it's present in a different build I have on hand, but not the local market production one.

Will raise with the vendor to correct in a maintenance release.

EDIT: Along the same lines, has anyone tried using a 64GB micro SD card in the prime?

Thanks for following up on this issue.

I'm currently using just a 16GB SD card so can't help you with 64GB compatibility.

I'm currently using "A Better Camera" which does what I want.  I haven't had a really good play but it seems to have lots of options and definitely lets you save photos to an SD card.

Settings | Display | Pulse notification light

Kind of wierd not to have it under the notification menu.

Only one colour (white) in the LED apparently.

Excellent!  Thanks for that, I somehow overlooked that option.
