The telcos don't want to be stuck with several thousand units of a colour very few customers will buy. They've been burned by unpopular colours before (See: white S6, blue S5, others). Can't blame them for playing it safe. 'Exclusive' means 'no-one else wanted it' 99 out of 100 times.

Black is #1 in NZ, gold is #2, everything else is a liability.

I think that would cost more for the seller or buyer as mass products are ordered in bulk to save costs and individual sales would add more time and cost to the overall price.

I'd probably have chosen blue if I could have seen it in the flesh. It looks really nice in the photos and videos, but for now, gold.

Link is to Paid Content and I don't really want to give NBR my credit card number just so that I can see it free for 30 days trial. Can you tell us more about Samsung's offer?

No sign of this on Samsung NZ website - still showing 128GB card.

The added bonus content is different all around internationally. US for eg get a free gear s2 and 256gb card with pre order. NZ however can get a gear VR with 128gb.

Does anyone know if we will get the hybrid sim version or just bog standard?  The more I think about it the more 2 numbers could be handy overseas.

^^ well no, the official bonus content is from samsung directly. Their variance i assume is decided by each international sales department and what they decide (id say they are wanting to get rid of overstocked products). Other retailers do not have access to these bonus contents and offer their own, hence the variances there.
I for example chose to have a discount from samsung and opt out of the bonus gear vr (still get the sd card) and have $190 off making it $1409 for me.

What I mean is only samsung and stuff store are offering the free gear VR in NZ. No telecos are offering the same. Plus the stores have to ship the item to you which states 5-10 business days. I'm hoping I get to pick mine up next Friday morning.
