Does anyone know if buying pixel 8 pro from JBHIFI Australia is worth it or wait for parallel import?

I'm leaning towards getting the Pixel 8. S23 is a solid quality phone, telephoto lens, better fingerprint sensor, but the Pixel 8 is more fun mostly because of the feature drops. The enhanced voice recognition on the Pixel 6+ is also a big draw, I use voice recognition a lot for dictating texts and such. There's a bit more risk of it not fully working, but based on what people have found I'm 75% sure at least the basics like VoLTE will work, and VoWiFi should work with some carriers either immediately or eventually.

I have a friend in AU who might get it for me, If I did the pre-order I could get the JB gift card for buying some wireless buds or something.

Doesnt look like it works mate, I went through the process and got the following message when I put NZ as shipping 'Sorry, one or more of your items are unavailable for delivery. Please remove it above or try a different delivery method.'

You need someone there to do it for you and then ship as normal post

VoWiFi works on Pixel 6P with Android 14 on Spark and Skinny so I am sure it will also work on the 7

I was going to order 8 standard from jbhfi au via a blind shipper. Turns out my main problem now is I can't think of anything I actually need to spend the gift card on damnit.

who were you planning on using to ship?

I'm considering just getting it from Amazon UK now, as they seem to have stock.

I get the concept of a blind shipper but where would you find one and how do you trust them...?

Cheaper than where? That's still fairly expensive! I'm looking at Australia, jb hifi.

That was for the 256gb Pro version, £1059 with the free Pixel 2 watch £349.
I see JB Aus has the same phone at AUD $1799 (just shy of NZD $2000) so slightly cheaper but more difficult to get sent here (unless you now someone in Aus to buy it and post over)

For me I want to get the watch as well as the phone so I'm taking that into consideration with the costs

Anyone had experience using the NZ Post Youshop thing (or a better drop ship service) so that you can get the website deals etc?

Google stopped sending to YouShop several years ago.
I have successfully (and happily) used Big Apple Buddy for my Pixel 3XL and Pixel 6 Pro
They even advised me to wait and save US$200 when they knew black friday deals were on the horizon.

Very easy to use too. They give you a quote before you place the order.
