jeffnz: The S5 isn't as bad as some seem to make it out to be its just not up to some of our expectations so its all down to personal choice.

The 2Gb is a surprise given the Note 3 but exactly how much will that affect performance, very little I would think given the majority of the users. Apart from the Sony Z2 the LG G2 only has 2gb as well.

The water resistance regardless of the back cover is certainly better than what the other models had to offer so not sure why people are knocking this, nothing is totally waterproof and all the other so called water resistant models have area's that can let water access phone if not properly closed.

I'm still thinking this isn't the main event for the S5 but time will tell so unless something better is released that fits my requirements my choice is stay with S4 or upgrade but the S5 certainly isn't a dud

Yeah but the G2 is a last gen phone. The G Pro 2 has 3GB which you hope will lend credence to the G3 having it also.

But isn't the GO PRO 2 a phablet? and comparable to the Note 3 which has 3gb

You are correct the G2 is old technology released in September so a bad comparison on my part.

Sorry thought were just looking at specs. If we are going phone v non phone, then yeah you're right there. But you'd expect LG to put 3GB in the G3. If for no other reason than to have a marketing ploy over Samsung. I don't see HTC putting it in the next One simply because they generally a step behind the rest with specs.

old3eyes: Looking at the new S5 it doesn't say upgrade to me. In fact after playing with several S4s I've gone off Samsung and now prefer pure Android like the Nexus and Motorola range

simple solution if you already have S4 or HTC one is flash the GE Rom but not many like doing that.

There's still a few issues with the GPe ROMs tho... no storing photos on the SD, camera quality is heaps worse, partitions.
It makes the S4 faster, for sure, but too much compromise over a genuine GPe or pure google.

Like old3eyes, I've gone off sammy too after owning the S4. I thought the S5 might've converted me back, but I felt it was a bit of a let down so I'll look at the xperia Z2.

agree with GE hence used AOSP and then came back to TW customs.

Given some of your thoughts on the S4 I thought you wouldn't even have considered the S5 knowing it wouldn't change much, especially ythe bloat which is a Samsung forte.

coffeebaron: The big question though: will it support LTE 700 APAC band?

I am looking forward for a smart phone that supports LTE700 APAC / Band 28 too.  For me, I think it is a waste of money to get a top end phone without Band 28 support.

I'll give anything a go until I get burnt about 5 times ;P
The fingerprint scanner and the heart rate crap were probably the main things that put me off... If I wanted a fitbit, I'd buy one!
and since South Korea have told Samsung to make bloatware removable, I had hopes. Oh well.

Only one I really wouldn't go is HTC. The sensation did that to me!

Another reason why I won't be buying the S5 ... Galaxy S5 ROM takes up nearly 8GB of storage

Give me pure android any day.

maybe we should start a " what I hate about Samsung and reasons I won't buy the S5" thread it would save this one for those interested in it and that get it.

yeah c'mon John stop holding out on us, I'm guessing apart from the finger print scanner it isn't a lot different to the S4.
