I mean a 32GB phone with a 'sub-optimal' camera for a hundred bucks more than a 64GB iPhone 6???? And only fifty less than a 128 GB model. I hope NL didn't order a while container load if they are hoping to shift them at that price. Interesting that no one else has a price up yet, not even the telcos. Maybe it's a misguided place marker (he says hopefully).

dauckland: Looks like we have pricing: https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/cameras-phones/phones-and-gps/open-network-phones/htc-htc-one-m9-silver-one-m9-smartphone-silver/prod137606.html

That's just Noel Leeming's way of scamming prices off the consumer as "pre-orders".

Wow, NZ's pricing is a joke. Harvey Norman and Noel Leeming both have started selling for $1249!

I ordered mine for 960NZD ( including shipping ) from www.unlocked-mobiles.com, for anyone who is keen on a good price.

That's the retailers' way of making more money of pre-orders. Wait for a while and the price will definitely come down.

its not pre-orders anymore. The phone is actually now available and that price is a bit over the top. Good phone though

Reviews from industry 'expert critics' I have read would suggest the M9 is a rather underwhelming iteration of the One series. Must be a hard act to follow I guess.

I hope for better things from the M9+ which I hear is due to be announced on April 8th.   Might be a China/Asia only release however but the sneak leaks suggest a drop-dead looker with killer specs.  I have a feeling HTC will need it to be to contend with the S6 Edge home run.

Meanwhile I'm thinking of upgrading my M7 for a new M8 while the runout specials last and sit the M9 out and wait for the M10 (or an M9+ from Alibaba.)

I understand US customers can order and buy unlocked devices directly from HTC.   Anybody know how we can go about that?

Had a play with the M9 which was on display at Voda Manukau, surprised they had it on display this early. Price is $1049, which is $200 cheaper than NL. I must say I am underwhelmed seeing as I am using M8, the gold rim that wraps around the phone doesn't feel as premium as I thought it'd be and the back does not feel as slippery. Was going to wait for M9+ but don't think there is much point since it'll be exactly the same as the M9.

I just think HTC is not making too much of an effort on this year's flagship, which begs the question: are they serious about turning their fortunes around at all?

Comparing the M9 and M8 I think the M8 is too slippery - the sharp edges on the M9 do make a difference.

I have all three (M7, M8 and M9) here and I think the M7 defined "good looking" and the M9 defined "beautiful". The M8 is kind of "meh".

Just received:

Spark announces HTC One M9 available nationwide and online today

Spark has announced today that the HTC One M9 is now available from Spark Retail Stores nationwide, and online at www.spark.co.nz for only $46 per month interest free on the $59 Open Term Ultra Mobile plan.

The HTC One M9 combines premium jewellery-grade finish and high quality imaging with 20MP main camera, UltraPixel front camera, 4K video capture and professional editing tools. The device also boasts an exhilarating audio experience with Dolby Audio™ surround sound and the freedom to truly personalise your smartphone experience with custom themes and a location-aware home screen.

Spark General Manager, Home, Mobile and Business Jason Paris has welcomed the launch, saying, “The HTC One M9 is a clear evolution and refinement of the formula HTC have developed from the award winning One M7 and One M8.”

“The distinct metal edges, uni-body metal design, sound system, and camera are a powerful combination, especially with the new HTC Sense 7 feature, which gives people the ability to customise their phone, not only for what they want to look at, but also for the apps they need, when and where they need them” Paris continued.

“The HTC One M9 provides people with another option at the premium end of the smartphone market. It’s a perfect match for the Spark network, with our ultra-fast 4G network, free Spotify premium, and Socialiser. Thanks to Spark’s great open term, interest free deals, it’s a lot more affordable too.”

The HTC One M9 is available from today online at www.spark.co.nz or in store for only $46 per month on the interest free, $59 Open Term Ultra Mobile plan, or $1099 RRP.

Even at $1100 I think I'll pass.

They seem to be cheaper directly from the operators, if from places like NL, it is I think $1249 from memory.
