Just got another one of those Flyme system notifications in Chinese. Clicking on it has taken me to a blank page. Wish I knew what these were actually for.

Anyone else received one of these yet?

Yup, mine appeared to be a reminder to log in to the Flyme site/forums or something like that

Try getting a screenshot of it and putting it through the mobile Google Translate app.

On two occasions now, I've had the phone reboot mid-conversation with someone. The call goes dead, look at the screen and first time I saw the Flyme splash screen the second the Meizu splash the precedes it. In one instance I had noticed the infinity symbol when reaching to answer the phone. So I'm not sure if an auto-update was taking place that required a reboot. If so the management and timing could be better.

This behaviour, the rebooting, is somewhat reminiscent of my old Huawei G300. Dare not mention it to the wife, I'd get an ear bending. Extremely annoying and embarrassing too, when the other party then suggests I need to buy a new phone.

Oh dear, hope you get it resolved soon.

So far it hasn't happened to me.

Wonder if @NikT has any suggestions.

I had something appear just before, and it had something like 200 Yuan as part of the notification.  I clicked it, and it took me to a page which couldn't be found. If it happens again, I'll screenshot it.

Click on it and you get this?

EDIT: I thought the icon looked a little like a t-shirt with a Flyme logo on it. Considered it may be a promo offer to buy one.

Yep, that is what I got when I clicked. Hasn't happened again. Maybe NikT can enlighten us.

Hey guys,

Meizu told us they'd blocked all Chinese-language push notifications to international models two weeks ago, but apparently not. Apologies! Chasing them up about it.

In the meantime, here's a new build to try - Flyme 5.1.3.2 Global

To install:

  • Download the .zip file directly to phone, or to PC and transfer over USB
  • Open the stock File Explorer app, find the .zip, tap it, hit install
  • Phone will reboot and install the new version

Contains bug fixes and stability improvements, I found it significantly improved standby time and app switching.

Also worth switching from 'Balance' to 'Performance' mode under Battery in Settings. Balance turns off two of the lower-clocked cores, so switching to Performance shouldn't have much impact on battery life, but will improve performance.

Installed the update. The only difference that I can see is that the keyboard has changed, and I like it.

Cheers NikT

Thanks NikT, downloading now... However, even on a gigabit connection this is going to take almost 20 minutes. Any chance of hosting these files locally in the future?

Wasn't so much fun on my fibre connection either. Happy to sort out a Google Drive mirror in future.

Thankfully Meizu's servers aren't quite as slow as ZTE's, which still hold the record for taking hours to download a ~15MB patch.

Hi. I see there are a lot of experienced users of the Meizu M3 note on this forum. I have one and like it a lot.

I bought the phone from the new New Plymouth store. Great service in there! I am having trouble with the Spark MMS settings though.

I can't send or receive mms.

I have been into Spark.....no help there.

Can anyone who is using the M3 note tell me what the spark MMS settings should be.

Thanks

Scott

Hmm, we've had a few reports of being unable to *receive* MMS on Spark, but the engineering team had trouble narrowing it down as some units worked fine despite identical settings to the problematic ones. No other reports of being unable to send or receive to date, though. Meizu are looking into it, although to be straight up, I do not expect a fix for this in the immediate future.

As much of a headache as it can be to change habits, especially when there is a need to educate the other party, the telcos have essentially given up on MMS. You would be better off in general by switching to an over-the-top chat service like WhatsApp for photo sharing, as the photos are of significantly higher quality and do not cost 50c a pop to send.

If MMS is an absolutely must-have for you, you can of course return the unit for a no-hassle refund.
