ScuL:

Amazon have got a global return policy so it shouldn't be a problem, factory repairs are still directed towards local repair centres. The local one for NZ is in Newmarket which is 15 minutes away, I've had my Z1 repaired there before and received excellent service. Just despise telco branded phones, so quite pleased with a non-branded one :)

I've never had one: my iPhones all came direct from Vodafone and had no logos on at all. Didn't know it was a 'thing'!

After a initial full charge I got slightly less than a day. Keep in mind the phone was busy getting configured and recieving lots of attention from its proud owner. Day 2, device use back to normal over a period of a day and battery was down to 50% this morning.

Note, I don't make or get many calls compared to most people so the phone has a pretty chilled-out time.

Does it have a LED notification light?

I don't recall but under settings/notification it states when notification led is disabled, only battery status warning will be shown.

I don't understand manufacturers decisions re batteries. The XZ has almost the exact physical dimensions as the much older Xperia Z2, yet the XZ has a smaller battery than the Z2. Of all the phones I have used to date, nothing can match the Z2 for battery life.

Mine is on 39% now but was off overnight (I never leave my phone on overnight unless I need the alarm). I have been using it a lot setting things up etc.

Got the iCloud email working (note to anyone trying this and failing, if you have 2FA set up on the iCloud account, create an app-specific password for the phone's mail account in iCloud and enter that as the password on the phone, NOT your iCloud password).

Cannot yet work out (a) if you can seamlessly sync the calendar on iCloud and the Google Calendar or (b) if you can do that, how.

Lots of ways to send one-way information but so far no way to do both back and forth in real time.

I thought alarms still work when phones are off?

Would kind of defeat the purpose don't you think?

A few more irritations.

1) It seems merging back and forth with Apple calendar and Google calendar is impossible

2) Using Airplay seems impossible unless you root the phone

The supplied charger is not Qualcomm compliant, so that is something extra to pay for if you want the Quickcharge thing. Sony have a charger UCH12 which is, but it's listed as Not Available.

I'll be trying to find out when it will be available next week.

Your problems possibly stem from trying to remain wedded to the Apple ecosystem having moved across to a Google OS.

I had similar problems a year or so back when I used an iPhone for a period but tried to remain fully in Google's ecosystem.

While some apps happily co-exist in either, not all do (understandably).

I'm not so sure. We both just quoted an example of where someone leaves their phone on overnight purely to use the alarm...
