in case anyone missed out on the poco phone....

https://www.trademe.co.nz/mobile-phones/mobile-phones/other/listing-1833581208.htm

Opening special price of $479 + trademe fees = $516.

yeah i wasnt too concerned, you can get it regularly at just over $500 as you pointed out, I guess though the big deal about the Mi Store is the local Bricks and Mortar warranty which could be a game/price changer the more the public gain confidence vs $1500 iPhones.

i want the pocofone just to play with for a while. I REALLY wish it had OIS and then Id seriously consider it as a main phone. Those night time shots of moving objects etc are just too blurry, but still objects and day time its pretty good, im liking it uses big pixel sensor, but the redmi note 5 AI would be the cheapest semi good camera phone with very similar results. but of course no where near the power etc if you are a gamer etc.

Yeah I would never take a gamble on buying a pocophone overseas only to be hammered for import duty and GST charges then it breaks and you have no warranty.  Way to risky.

Yeah I've seen a bunch of the xiaomi scooters around the streets since the weekend... they sold out so thats 400-500 more scooters on the streets... they seem to be everywhere now... soon the footpaths will be crawling with e-scooters... what amazes me is the cockiness of the male lime riders taking corners and busy intersections at full speed without helmets!  Its pretty wreckless and dangerous given the little hard wheels on those things... come winter in the rain if the council hasnt banned them before then theres going to be lots of accidents.

These scooters feel so much better than Lime. They have disc brakes in the back, a bit larger and look well finished.

.......and ABS brakes on the front, and better lights and less angle on the steering and pneumatic tyres and more economical than renting.

My wife and I have one each.

Went and looked the other day with the vague concept in my mind of picking up a cheapo phone as a backup to my work iPhone...

The store really has very few sku's and a small footprint. It's fair to say that it didn't blow me away, kinda like a mix between a Spark / Vodafone store and a JapanMart.

Meh.

Jealous! I'm guessing the orders delayed until 26 Nov will arrive in about a fortnight, and, for some weird reason, I haven't been this excited about a purchase for quite some time.

It'll be interesting to get feedback as to how well these scooters go in Wellington, given it's not exactly flat! I imagine they'll be great around the waterfront and a good amount of the CBD, and in other places like Petone, but would struggle in the hillier parts. I'm in PN, and I think that's ideal for an e-scooter.

For those of interested in the various parts one can buy to fix some of the manufacturing issues, this i the set I bought (though the same seller has different sets for sale): https://www.ebay.com/itm/153258378408?ViewItem=&item=153258378408

This link is to one of the more sturdy replacement battery covers available (cheaper from the maker's own website).

I am nearly 105 kgs.
The biggest hilI I have tried is the Moorhouse Ave. overbridge. Handled it fine.
Christchurch and Palmerston North are cities made for these scooters I have to admit.

Are the handlebars height-adjustable?
