I was tempted but the 5G issue might be my deal breaker. 5 years of updates is great and all that but I think in the next 5 years I'll definitely want 5G on my phone. If that could be sorted I think I'd import one.

Probably going to wait and see how it plays out for some taking the leap, and might wait and see what deals can be found in the next few months to bring it in under $1000. Our pixel 3s were got for a steal I'm the UK at about $600 each when they were only a couple of months old via some stupid contract loopholes o2 offer over there where you can purchase a phone on a plan, pay off the phone immediately and cancel the airtime then keep the unlocked device for a fraction of its price. I'd consider seeing if a friend or family member would be willing to do that for us if it saves us hundreds of dollars.

Can you please explain the GST off of 15%? I'm not too familiar with US shopping. I have seen they offer Sales Tax exemption of 7% when shipping to Oregon warehouse. Someone here then said that Sales tax was already on top of $899.

Do you know if USA GST can be claimed back on this when buying through Shipito?

If it's shipped to Oregon there's no US sales tax as it's a sales tax free state. That's whey the re-shippers are based there. You'll have to pay the 15% NZ GST when it's shipped to NZ or when it arrives here depends who you send it via.

And Shipito is one of those organizations who collect GST on behalf of Inland Revenue. Amazon, Youshop and AliExpress also do the same thing.

That might be a blessing in disguise :-) I am really gun shy now about using Youshop for sending things with batteries as they are so pendantic about where the battery is located (removable or no), mAh etc. I asked about sending some Bluetooth headphones and I could not get a satisfactory response from anyone whether this was possible or not.They kept on just sending me links to the restricted goods Pages. The worst case scenario is you send something to Youshop and then say they cannot send it in New Zealand or they ask for particularly difficult documentation to provide like a MSDS.

Yea I also had google cancel my order of a Pixel 6 shipped to Stackry (like YouShop), has anyone had any luck getting one on order from the US? And if so who did you use?

Parallel Imported NZ is advertising all Pixel 6 models now. I'd go with them. Price is entirely reasonable.

Lower than I expected. I've purchased 5a5G already. Maybe I'll look at P6 next year. Cry cry.

Yeah probably not for me. I'll wait for the borders to open so someone travelling can bring a Pixel for me from abroad. I don't wanna pay extra for something because the manufacturer didn't bother to launch it officially here.

$1749 for Pro 128gb is $400 more than what people in Australia are paying for the same phone + better warranty coverage + 5G guarantee.
I'll pass this one yet again.

Hmm. I have not heard the AUD price on pro. Base model seemed sensibly priced compared to USD price.

The pro starts at $1299 in aus while the regular 6 starts at $999

Still not totally convinced the pro is worth the upgrade for most. It's just more ram, slightly better screen and the telephoto lens on the back that's different, $300 feels like a lot for those things that aren't really essentials.

From their website for the pixel 6 "Some of our products are 5G capable but you will need to check with your network providers regarding availability"

Before spending that sort of money I would need to know if it will work here otherwize it's an expensive 4G brick

Let's be realistic. 5g won't be everywhere for some years. I think I also need to be realistic as to whether I really need 5g.

So I'd be happy with a 1.5k phone with 3g and 4g at this moment :)

I'll ask PI if they will stick the 512gb pro version.
