jjnz1:mobiusnz: Samsung etc are making some beautiful hardware but I had to restart my Tablet or crash out of apps nearly every evening I used it - Since getting my Ipad 3 I've restarted it 2 or 3 times since I got it release day - I do get the?occasional?app crash but you simply run it again, no reboot needed.
Hmmm very strange... I hardly ever restart my galaxy tab running rooted stock ics... it just works. Also my GS3 never gets restarted either... that's running CM10.
Could it be something you've done? IOS6 can't be modified/customized so can't really be broken... whereas android is highly customisable, and can quite easily be broken if you don't fully understand what you are doing..
I do however think that Samsungs first release of a product works but could be made more efficient and faster.. their second release - in this case ics, is a huge improvement... at least with the galaxy tab anyway.

It's absolutely stock. And I've factory reset it. The most common problem I've had is with exchange email. My iPad and iPhone check and download new messages, the android appears to check and returns nothing new, no error but nothing new. Sometimes killing the mail app and rerunning it kicks it in the pants but generally wait a while and it just works again. Ice experienced this with clients galaxy phones with exchange too. I'm in IT (going on 18 years) and most of my client sites run Exchange server 2003 or 2010, iOS never fails with exchange mail, android is ok. I'm no apple fanboy, iPhone 4 was my first apple product and I own a second hand Mac purely for the iOS dev kit and due to a lack of spare time to experiment with it it has spent 99.9% of its life running windows 7 as I can't stand OsX. I really hope android gets better, ICS is looking like a big step up from Honeycomb and by all accounts Jellybean is better still. There is a lot of nice hardware out there running Android but I don't think android has a patch on iOS for stability. Feature wise there are things that piss the hell out of me that iOS can't do (protect an app with a password, I have some key data to protect but having to type a pin every time I use my phone drives me bonkers) that I'm sure there's an app for on android but iOS just does the basics to damn well to ignore.
My other biggest beef in android honeycomb was text entry in browser forms, the lag was incredible - even on a stock out of box galaxy. I won't lie and say my iPad 3 is never laggy but its incredibly rare. Just got an iPhone 5 yesterday and I'm loving it, mainly upgraded for Siri as in my trials it'll do a good job of adding calendar appointments in the car from my hands free kit as I get a lot of calls while driving and constantly forget appointments due to another call coming in. Sorry to rant but I like the intelligent responses you get here so like to see what people's views are. Just got my staff member an iPhone 5, he's used his personal galaxy sII up for the first three months he's worked for me so looking forward to seeing how he compares them after a few weeks of use. Generally I've found people like the platform they start on, I may well be an android fanboy today if I'd started out on an android device.
