One is a users thread, the other is about availability. I think it is worthwhile having both, otherwise the users threads get bogged down with discussion about when it is getting released on network X/Y/Z, pricing here Vs there etc. Makes the users thread much less productive.

it has been over a week since i got the note

like :

big screen , good for viewing pics and videos (big enough to watch 720p movies and still see the detail)
battery life is awesome even with 1 hour of hardcore gaming i still have battery left for the rest of the day
multi screen is excellent (don't know about the new modded 5 screen multi ,might be a over kill )
s pen is good but haven't used it much to be honest
one handed keyboard ,i can even do swipe with no problems

dislike :

the back button ,hard to reach with thumb when going back and forth need a on-screen back button
not enough apps for the S pen .

i don't feel the phone to be big and bulky i have not found it be a hindrance at all. btw after modding it ,64gb phone memory is great works good

Social Bitcoin meetup every 2 weeks in Hamilton PM me for details

I was surprised to see the overwhelming number of Samsung Note's while I was in Hong Kong.

It seems like they have been selling way more Sams than they have of that fruity phone over there.

NZTechFreak, when you tested the Galaxy Note II dock and used a USB mouse/keyboard how did that go?

The reason I ask it that I have Android V2.2 on a desktop box with USB mouse/keyboard.
The keyboard/mouse quite happily support:

Logitech M325 Mouse

Left button = Select/invoke
Middle Button = Context menu
Right Button = Back key.

Logitech K400 Keyboard

Ctrl-Alt-Del = Reboot (Some Android systems)
Volume up/down
Two fingers on touch pad = Scroll up/down.
F4 = OS shutdown. (Some Android systems)
The mouse point and buttons on the keyboard work the same as the mouse.
FN-Home and/or Home button select short-cut to home screen page.
And etc...

All Good

HOWEVER.....

I have a 'docked' XPERIA Android phone running 4.0.4 ICS and the following it seen to happen.

Logitech M325 Mouse

Left button = Select/invoke.
Middle Button = Select/invoke. !!!!!!!!!!?????!!!!!!!!
Right Button = Select/invoke. !!!!!!!!!!?????!!!!!!!!!!!

So as you see the mouse functionality in ICS 4.0.4 has almost been wiped out or at least on XPERIA S 'docked' this is the case.

[My Questions]

What version of Android OS were you running on your docked Galaxy Note???
What was the function on your mouse for the middle and right mouse buttons?????

Is there the same loss of mouse button functionality (middle and right mouse buttons) on a Galaxy Note II running JB 4.1.1????? Or is this just a 'bug' with ICS 4.0.4 that an upgrade to JB 4.1 will fix?

Can anyone confirm that the Note II actually does the multitasking split screen thing?

Ive read somewhere that NZ ones may not?

Hoping all the promo videos that are doing the rounds are 'true' & not just features that overseas models have & NZ ones will lack! Il be gutted otherwise!

Im eagerly awaiting its release via VF!!!

I picked up my Note II two days ago and it does do the split screen multitasking. Bought it from Parallel Imported in Albany.

I was the same. Went from an iPhone 4S to the Galaxy S III, and I thought that was a huge jump in size, but my S III died the other day so while that's away being repaired I bought the Note II.

The size difference is noticeable even from the S III, but the screen is gorgeous, it is so fast and fluid, and I'm not really having any trouble using it in one hand either. The S Pen is actually useful too and not just a gimmick.

Ahh, brilliant! Been watching sooo many videos on the Note 2, I WANT it already!

Forcing myself to hold out till VF offer it on a plan cos I need a decent plan anyway

I paid $875 for it which I thought was quite reasonable considering it looks like the RRP here is going to be $1199.
