Hi Nik,

I have the Smart Ultra 6 but don't know how to get me pc to recognise it so I can, for eg, use media plaer sync to transfer music to my phone. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Drivers should auto-detect & install. Make sure MTP is enabled.

If there's still no joy, try this driver.

This worked for me:
Settings > Storage > (3dot menu) > USB computer connection

A few things.

While browsing chrome the phone likes to reset, while in apps the phone likes to randomly reset.

It also gets a random white line at the top of the screen that can only be fixed by resetting it.

Phone isn't rooted, has plenty of storage left and no non mainstream apps installed so this is annoying.

Sounds faulty, unfortunately. I've seen no issues like this across the many Smart ultras I've handled (~30 live units).

Suggest checking for updates (There's a bugfix maintenance release on the way), factory resetting, and failing that, returning to place of purchase for repair under warranty.

I've bought a couple of ZTE Blade S6 Plus cases from Aliexpress. They're not exactly the right fit. The power and volume buttons are mis-aligned, but this case works quite well so I can use the volume rocker through the "wrong" holes, and the power button works if I push a little harder. Plastic is soft enough that I reckon I could cut new holes fairly easily.

i think you will just have to keep an eye out on local sales etc. If you can secure one for under $300 awesome but tbh even at full price they are still awesome value

Comparitively speaking the Motorola moto x play just announced is basically the same phone spec but with a couple of nice but not critical features and it looks like it will be 2x or more the price of the ultra 6

A couple of weeks on I'm still loving this phone and wondering why I didn't go to a phablet sooner

I have the font size set to small/tiny/whatever the lowest one is and its just about right

For icons and desktop etc the simplest solution is to try Nova Launcher (paid not free version) or similar that lets you scale everything. I have my desktop set to 6 high x 5 wide with icons and text scaled to about 80% of original size and it is just about right to me

Google Launcher so desperately needs to bake in scaling and adjustable grid layout, it would then be just about perfect

I got mine on Tuesday and I'm very happy with it so far.  Previously I used the Moto G 2 and I can notice the speed difference (Ultra 6 much faster).

From what I can see, this phone should work on 2degrees as well (it's unlocked in NZ), just wondering did anyone ever bought one and used it on 2degrees?  I was with Skinny and I've switched to Vodafone just for this phone.

Thanks for your help in advance!

I'd have thought if it worked on Voda it'll work on 2 Degrees; the bigger issue is whether it'll work on the other primary network (Spark/Skinny), as that uses different frequencies.

Which happens to be my exact question: is this phone is fine for all of Spark's 3G frequencies across the country?

I'm planning on getting my wife one, but she's also on Spark so want to be sure about this before buying it. I'm not too worried about 4G as she uses hardly any mobile data as it is, but I would like the assurance it'll work for phone calls no matter where she is!

Thanks.

Smart ultra does not support 850MHz 3G, so is not suitable for use on Spark/Skinny.

@NikT: so does that mean it's 100% compatible with 2degrees?  From what I can read, both Vodafone and 2degrees works with GSM-900, UMTS-900 and UMTS-2100.  Thanks!
