Starting to wish I had not updated , not much difference if any to performance and now does not seem follow the DNS settings I have set which worked before the update .

I would like the new update and that, I think, is the only thing that would put me off, which is strange as I don't change dns settings on the TV anyway. Thats what the FireTV and Shield is for. Was wondering if that thing they said about removing the option for using ipv6 might be connected ?

As an aside, use an old Fire TV and thought I'd update to a 4K stick - the old one only required blocking Google, the new one requires a whole list of blocks/redirects/whatever they're called. Have gone back to the old model for now.

I will try disabling iptv6 on the router soon and see if that helps . I also have the Fire stick 4k which works very well . I really only use the DNS for overseas iptv but I understand setting up for Netflix can be a bit more complex . I liked having the option of shortcuts to the iptv streaming channels on the TV itself rather than opening the Fire stick input and going into Kodi , but now with the DNS rule not being followed on the TV this isn't an option .

Would have thought if you are allowed to enter a rule then it should work (or its a new bug which they'll fix). Still, hopefully it can be fixed on your router.

Well just went around all the settings again and disabling the ipv6 on the router has fixed my DNS issues on the TV . On the previous OS there was a setting to turn off ipv6 but not on Oreo that I can see , hopefully changing my router setting will not screw anything else .

Still nothing for my 65X9000e

It's set to auto update so one day I'll turn it on and it will be there.

Manually installed and tidied that home screen right up.
No major issues at this stage. Side loaded apps remain (although still no way to launch these from the front screen) and dev mode remained enabled.

Have you checked out the Sideload Launcher app. Using it on a Mi Box. Provides a link on the front screen to the side loaded apps (does nothing for apps that want mouse control though)

I looked at that sideload launcher app a while back, and it whilst it did provide a front menu launching icon, the UI once loaded was horrible. Had links to heaps of apps and you had to wade through them to find the one you wanted.

Now find it nicer to go in via settings, apps and the sideloaded ones sit at the top ready to launch from there n

Updated mine (43" 2018 model) and has its plus and minus points, was running at first (like a pig actually), but after several reboots and it finally formatted my usb drive, it is ok speed wise now, prob a bit faster than Android 7.

Layout is different and better, my vpn works fine as does my DNS for it, Kodi does not show any CPU usage % though??

Had a prob with onscreen keyboard not showing up (on the screen), after a while found out it was my wireless mouse as it thinks its physical a keyboard and disables the onscreen one...??, Sony help online said to change it to "leanback launcher keyboard" as default, but that was not installed and could not find it, but installed "LeanKey Keyboard" from Play Store and it works as it use too now, don't know why it didn't work properly in the first place, I hope this is only some problem with mine and not a general problem as it would confuse and frustrate some people.

Holding down the "Home" button on remote with Android 7 showed recent apps and you could switch to anther app directly or kill them, but now it brings up the apps draw.

And when pressing home button on Android 7 it would over lay the menu on the TV screen so you could still see and hear TV channel, now it kills the TV channel off completely??

Regarding the speed comments above, after playing with it, it is quicker through the menu's but takes a lot longer to go back to digital TV and changing digital channels you would think your changing streaming channels, it did play a movie off Pluto TV faultlessly (as it should), You Tube and Netflix are fine, so the internet stability is good.

Will see how it goes over the next few days, I hope a few things improve......

How do you switch between running apps now?

I have to go back to the main menu/home screen and launch into the next app from there, even if it’s probably already running.

Either hold down Home button for apps draw or push Home button for main screen.

I had the same issue , don't have a wireless mouse, so not sure what the cause is. I haven't spent any time trying to resolve yet

Manually loaded the update and after playing around with the home screen and setting most animations to 'off' I think I like it. took about 10min to update. Great to get rid of the Sony bloat on the home screen.

On Nougat it would take at least a couple of minutes for the tv to establish an Internet connection when turned on so apps like Netflix and Youtube would either hang on loading or fail to load due to no connection, that was annoying. I'll try to see if the connection is faster in the morning.

is there a workaround for 'flash'?  I understand flash isnt supported by the browser on the TV or for that matter most/all android tv's.

One issue I found yesterday is that Sony Select keeps coming back even after I disable it and the option to uninstall is greyed out.
