Hard to see from your photos whether there really is a problem. TBH it looks fine to me. Looks just like mine and I reckon mine's OK.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

The zero gap is really for the back only, if you see the teardown you will realise the two speaker grilles are glued in and not part of the unibody. They are right but they should have been more specific. Nevertheless if you feel that your gap is larger than just a hairline thick, go and exchange. Also take note of your serial number, it was noted in XDA that HTC later batches have better QC starting from late March so any One with the serial FA/SH/HT33M or higher (e.g. FA/SH/HT34W) should have not much QC issues.

And you should be glad that yours is only about some small gap. The One X users especially the early adopters suffer way more serious QC issues than this. Being the first phone to have the unibody build, its build quality for the first few batches are really cmi.

PS mine has no build / gap issues buy the NZ telco supplied phone its great.

I will retake image after dinner and include the build number.

Did you end up getting the vodafone one cathy88? Or did your NL get the XT one in?

I got mine at NL at the end. They gave me a vodafone version at the same price so I ended up paying $880 for Vodafone which is 20% off really.

heavenlywild: Cathy88, I think your one looks fine. If mine is like yours, then I would be quite happy with the build quality.

Hey, The side is real bad I though. The volume button and the plastic extends outside of the screen as you can see. So if you run ur finger over it from screen side to bottom you can feel a huge bump. Also volume rocker is not aligned correct.

I will retake picture again later. iPhone 5 pretty bad at close up photos

I say, if you are not happy with the handset, just exchange it regardless what other people might think.
This phone is costing you a nearly one grand. Go back and ask for a new one until you get what you want.
At the end it would be HTC paying for their poor QA, not the retailers I assume?
I think HTC one will be my last HTC phone. I am happy with the One but their poor quality (had to exchange three times to get a 'OK' one) and launch delay really disappointed me.

The built number for mine is a HT34W.

I have retaken the images and highlight the problem with red box. Click on them for original full size image.

First I think when they were gluing the top speaker plate they have not align it properly, it is shifted towards the left, hence here you can see the white plastic sticks out. Also the volume rocker and the side plastic also sticks out a little bit.

As above, the plate on the left side sticks out more then the plastic due to poor alignment. You can see there is a small gap and it was poorly glued, as if u clamp top and bottom together with your hands, you will realise it becomes gapless.

Lastly volume buttons are not aligned straight. I could not move this by force.

Went to Western Springs today and gave the Camera a good run, love how fast and easy it is to snap pics. Using the focus and switching between modes is all very intuitive and easy to flick through quickly.

Did a bunch of Zoes and still images - here's a Zoe Share:

So far I have one major gripe which I hope will be rectified through software or updates to facebook / google... The Zoe captures save as still images and if you back them up to dropbox or google web albums it just ends up being a whole bunch of pics rather than the nice little clips you see on the phone. It seems that presently the only way to view or share Zoe is via the limited time link that HTC provide or just straight from the phone. Hurmph.

Zoe is a fantastic idea and way way cooler than I actually thought it'd be - but until we can actually share them as a single file on the usual social media platforms then it's a bit limiting.

Right now I'm waiting for dropbox to sync about 300 pics from today... most of which are just break downs of Zoe captures... Needs an option to only sync the first frame (or skip them entirely) if it can't treat it as a singular animated file.

The way it organises and displays your photos on your device however is, for me, absolutely perfect. The auto montage it does by stitching the days photos is actually really neat. I thought it'd be awfully cheesey and useless but I really see myself getting a lot of good use out of these camera features.

My phone hit low battery after only 8 hours off the charge today, this is a little disappointing but I really did thrash it with the camera use and playback - and a 20min phone call and a bit of syncing before I plugged it in again. Compared to the iPhone4 the battery lasts maybe 50% longer? Based on the last couple days I've been observing at least. I can live with that.

Can add more images after the sync finishes if anyone's interested.

I can't figured out what different LED light colours mean.
I have green, red and amber.
Do they have a specific meaning or they just flash different colours randomly when there's a missed call or something.
Any tips? :)

Anybody having issues with getting no sound out through auxillary jack to car stereo? Headphones work no probs. Plug in auxillary jack and phone doesnt even detect the jack - with sound still coming out of phone speakers. ?? I read on the android central somebody else with a similar problem suggests its a bug with Jellybean. I'm keen to know if any body else has a similar bug .. or not.

(auxillary jack works fine with my old sensation with only half a screen still functioning so I know its not a peripheral problem.) Cheers.

Hey there. I have been a non registered stalker of this particular topic for sometime now haha..

I asked a question on the vodafone community website this morning about the gap, and if we were able to exchange for a gap-less one if we were to receive a gapped one. The dude who replied said if the handset wasn't faulty then vodafone would probably say no. So i guess he doesn't believe the gap to be a fault? Sad to the days!

Green = notification (new message etc)
Amber = charging
Red = Low battery

BTW, in case any haven't used it before Widgetsoid is great for adding toggles to the notifications pulldown, lots of options and customisability and also adds a battery percentage to the status bar if the user wants. I really like it for the ability to add a flashlight and contacts to the notification bar, which many apps like this don't allow.

If I purchase a telecom version because it's $100 cheaper, and use it on the Vodafone network - will I miss out on getting 4G enabled when Telecom do this as I won't be connected to their network to pick up the update?

Also, the display phone I saw in Telecom already had a scratch on the back. I hate cases as I think they destroy the design aesthetics, so which is the most invisible uber-thin case for protecting the back from scratches?

I believe you would get the update to enable 4G as it's dependent on the phone and not the network it's on.
