In the immortal words of Sir Edmund Hillary "We knocked the b'stard off" hehe

Well, Odin'd a pre rooted rom, thought i'd go with the latest MI1 with the irreversible bootloader. I don't plan on going back so it seems okay. Took a while to SuperSU to work but finally got that working and root works. Status says custom, but now going to install a custom MI1 rom.

Everyone still going for Omega?

Which custom recovery is everyone using? I feel new.. :D

I think the other thing with the new bootloader is it will have the extra notification that it has been rooted but that sort of thing never bothered me.

Omega is still popular amongst the Sammy Roms as is Wanam if you want something close to stock but with tweaks, he has his own Kernel now which works very well for battery life (Adam Kernel) I have been using BobcatRom a lot as I like the Aroma choices on installing and it works very well.

I'm currently using a GE (Google Edition) 4.3 Rom which is very good but missing some of the Sammy software features.

I use PhilzTouch recovery and a stock google edition rom (can't recall which right now). I haven't used Omega or Wannam since my S3 but they've always been good. Just choose one which suits your desire for 4.2 or 4.3.

I was on Philz but found the interface rather hard to use, most likely me. I'm using CWM touch now which is the way i remember using CWM

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

I've installed Philz Recovery, and like yourself @jeffnz find the menus a bit fiddly.

I've installed Omega's V12 on MI1 and while everything runs sweet, my battery drain is going nuts.

4hrs 53m on battery and down to 27%.

Screen is 65% and time on 2h 23m. A few pics uploaded to twitter in that time.. Poweramp running and playing music for most of that time.

Hmm, just wipe the battery stats in recovery?

Try it for few days and see, my first day on Omega 12 was bad battery wise, it is getting better day by day! If doesnt get better will try a different kernel.

Thanks guys, yeps will do full drain and then full charge and see how it goes after a few days. It runs very smoothly so happy with that. It's using the default Abyss kernel which seems to work nice for audio, it's a lot louder than stock

you could try Wanam Exposed app as it has the loudness tweak.

I've installed the Adam kernel and it's working much better for me. I was also hitting cpu temps around 60 degrees on Abyss kernel.
