ronw: I don't know I think $69 is pretty reasonable considering one of yours cost the same.

Yeah, that's a genuine Google Nexus charger - it's a truly beautiful piece of kit with a glass top, magnets to hold the phone in place (even vertically) and microsuction sticky stuff underneath. I really like that one, but I won't be getting more than one of them. The generics are just too cheap and charge just as well. But if you want to spend that much - then it's definitely the one I'd be going for.

There are heaps of suppliers on eBay and AliExpress that offer the conversion kits for non-wireless phones. Can't recall exactly because I was trying to filter them out, but probably in the range $3-$7.

So a few weeks into Nexus ownership and I must say I am loving it, mostly.

Internet connection/page loading can freeze (even with good signal) and the only way to fix it seems to be rebooting the phone, then it works fine... so it's not the connection.. anyone know a fix for this? The loading line (the blue one denoting how much of the page is loaded) on chrome just halts at a certain point at the start, and doesn't load the page.. but after a reboot, boom! all go.

The camera is great, HDR+ is quite amazing, still not as good as my old 920.. but very good video and picture. The software is so much better than WP8 it's not even close.. very glad I made the change! :)

That is interesting mine has never done that. Did you receive the OTA update or was phone already on 4.4.2 when you got it. I have heard of problems after upgrades maybe phone was either a reboot or a reset.
These days reset are not too much problems if you have the backup data and auto restore ticked

Phone was on 4.4.0 on purchase, updated to 4.4.2 straight away though - Vodafone/2degrees version from Warehouse Stationary.

Have tried a reset and cache wipe, see if that makes a difference - worst case scenario got the 3 year warranty.. :)

Anyone know where you can pick up a wall charger for Nexus 5 with a  NZ plug on it. Got mine from overseas and dont like having to use a plug adaptor on end of charger. Also would be handy to have another one at work.

If you have an American one with the flat pins, I'd just twist them gently with pliers until they fit into a NZ power point, otherwise any USB power adaptor from virtually anywhere will do (i.e. computer store, petrol station, stationery shop, etc.). The original is 1.2A, so try for one around that output. A place like PB Tech normally has a reasonable selection.

Warehouse Stationery is advertising up to 30% off phones starting tomorrow. Might be worth checking it out. Here's hoping. That would make the N5 $419.

Sorry false alarm. They have some specials on other models, but the N5 has remained the same. undecided

Nexus 5 getting better and better.

It replaced my stock camera. Can someone confirm whether this is true for you too?

Thanks

Yes. It replaced my stock camera. In Play store it is an "Update" for the Nexus 5. Not sure about other phones. I would guess it is only an update only for phones running stock Android.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
