my first n5 (black) had a crap camera - the exposure metering was fubar.
also it is the original casework - small speaker holes, but no wobbly buttons.

second one, a white, has a better camera, still with original small speaker holes and wobbly buttons.

in setting them up have noticed some quirks not evident on the earlier n4.

the camera zoom fx app no longer works properly - the first 2-3 shots have the exposure wound to max+++, an app incompatibilty as the stanadard android camera app is fine, as are earlier versions of the app.
plus when shutter sound is off, the all versions of the app automatically ramps down the ringer volume to vibrate mode, wtf ?
overall despite working well with the n4 and samsungs etc. camera zoom fx is a lemon with the n5.

any recommendations on a really good android camera app ?

No issues with camerafx here. Try Google camera from the play store.

Anyone received an update for 4.4.3 yet?

I'm rooted and wondering whether it's causing the delay for me..

Not yet. Running stock here on two n5's and haven't got it on either.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Root wont stop you getting the OTA. Past experience has been that it can take a week or two for the update to filter thru but I must say I am surprised to see that devices other that the Nexus5/7/10 are already getting it.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Had a nice little surprise to wake this morning and find the OTA to 4.4.3 waiting and ready to be installed. I like the look of the new dialler, otherwise seems to be business as usual.

No update for my Nexus 5 yet.

Funny thing is my wife's Moto G got the update yesterday.

So much for Google devices getting updates first :-)

Just forced my phone to see the update by:
Goto Settings > Apps > All
Scroll to Google Services Framework (GSF)
Select GSF and then disable it and reboot your Nexus device.
Once rebooted (play services may complain about crashing) goto Settings > Apps > disabled
Scroll again to GSF and clear the cache.
Reenable GSF and the device should tell you a system update is available in the notifications. Download, install and enjoy.

I think its making sure everyone doesnt update at the same time to make sure the servers don't get overloaded
