I'm not too worried about the delays as the CFO won't approve a purchase request for the capital expenditure in the current fiscal environment (the wife won't let me spend the money until after our daughter's school trip to Japan in September).

I did get to have a play at the Telecom shop in Queensgate (Lower Hutt) on the weekend but I noted the warning sign next to the display model which said they had no stock as of Sunday. Having it in my hand for five minutes only made me want it more...

I bought my HTC one from Exeltek an the NZ custom charge me a total of NZ$165.52, been charged gst on importation $117 - importation fee $33.10 - gst on import transaction fee $4.97 - disbursement fee $ $8.70. This make my phone bit over $1000.

Hollidog: Found a pretty great feature of this phone - probably my favourite to date; the ability to use iSky.

Few caveats, you have to use the stock android browser, and you have to download the latest flash version. Search Google for "How to enable flash on HTC One" Follow those instructions and your set.

You have to remember to check "Desktop Version" when you get there.

If you dont have an iSky account, just go to the site and enter your Sky credentials, (you will need your code from your card in your decoder) and your laughing. Took great delight in watching the F1 qualifying while at a 21st at the weekend.

I've been able to load Flash, but when logging into isky and clicking on the movie it only goes as far as loading the advert and then freezes, any idea why?? Thanks

I have had that before also, I found that refreshing the page or changing the channel helps to fix it. Also I have noticed that having the screen rotated helps in getting it to work.

Krishant007: i am looking at getting the Otterbox Commuter case for the One. Does anyone have prior experience with these cases? Do they add much bulk to the phone?

I do have one of the Rock cases that I got from Ebay. It is a hard plastic case. Quite sturdy - but will not protect much from drops. Also, it was a pain to take it off the phone. I was scaared i might damage the phone.

I have one on my S3, its only good for the first few months, first the tabs that cover the audio jack and usb inputs came off just from everyday use and then the inner rubber case started to stretch. it now lets in all manner of dust and crap. I also accidently drowned my phone in hydraulic fluid and if the tabs had still been there my phone would have been replaced free of charge when my S3 suffered sudden death syndrome. Overall good protection but rubbish build and durability. I wouldn't buy another, Hope that helps

yea it does add bulk/weight but i like it that way and yea you have to pretty ruff to get it off which you'll be doing a lot of to clean from under the rubber every two weeks

Definitely not getting the battery power others are reporting so far... Hopefully it improves after a few cycles as has been said.

Today I went fully flat after only 11 hours off the charge... Was working all day but saw heavy use during my 1.5 hr commute each way, and maybe another 45mins throughout breaks.

So that's like 4 hours screen time, with a 5 min call in there at lunch.

No camera, no music, no video, no navigation, no wifi access (altho wifi was on and alerting me to open networks), no syncing, no downloading or updating apps

Most use was Facebook / whatsapp chat, general web pages and Facebook

I have latitude on and location active in facebook messaging so the GPS is firing up fairly regularly automatically.
I'm on vodafone and don't have a 4g plan
Wasn't keeping an eye on reception / tower changes but never noticed it being bad. The commute is sandringham to onehunga, using a bus to Newmarket then train from there (yeah it's bloody horrible... Only one week of it for training thank god)

I got the phone on Thursday so it's been through 4 complete charge cycles., each time being 15% or lower when I've charged back up to full again.

Any thoughts apart from the obvious battery saving tips i could employ like turning off wifi / GPS ?

Those probably don't have any gap issues.

They, more likely, would have copied the gap to perfection.

Got my HTC One today (well, yesterday now) from Noel Leemings.

I was faced with two units to chose from: the Vodafone one and the Telecom. I opened the Vodafone one, and it was well made and without flaws on the screen or on the body - except one corner the speaker panel over lapped the case by about 0.5mm; I was prepared to put up with that even though it felt slightly rough it was pretty minor. There were no gaps and I thought I was doing well. I showed them what I was meaning and they noted it themselves.

But at the last minute I thought I'd take a look at the Telecom unit, and well it was flawless - no gaps, over hangs, screen pixel problems, nothing. And $100 cheaper.

So, as I had ordered the Vodafone one, they changed my order again. I went Telecom -> Vodafone -> Telecom. $900.

I've been playing with it all evening, and reports are true: it is a stunning phone, great sound and I am quite pleased at the simple but practical modifications HTC has made to android.

The local Noel Leemings has been excellent, and i suggest if you have had some trouble with your one try another branch.

I went through my first day with a fully charged phone yesterday, managed 21 hours 32 minutes down to 7%. No idea about screen on time.. Messages was the biggest battery hog with 18%.

Speaking of which, every time I open text messages, there is 0.5second delay where the screen is all white.. Choose somebody, another 0.5 second delay and white screen. Yuck!

Just received my black Case Mate 'Barely There' case from Clove - took six days. Cost $39 all up.

Perhaps not cheap but I think it's great - superior quality and fit, slim and light, good looking, smooth but grippy texture, etc. I have had these cases on my previous two phones and I'm sold on 'em, as you may be able to tell.

Overall I would prefer to not have a case on such a fine-looking phone but then feel vulnerable. The case makes things feel a lot safer.

Wifi and 4G on plus listening to music at 59% battery on time is 18 hours 51 s on battery and Power saver is on.

Compared to my larger battery in the Samsung Note 1 this phone lasts longer.

The phone has a really good power management on board and is returning acceptable results for me.

For those on Telecom I recommend you make sure the phone is set to "WCDMA ONLY" to save it hunting for a 2G network that doesn't exist, saving some battery.

If you do this though remember that:

- when roaming overseas you will need to set the phone to "Auto" again so it can work in old 2G networks
- if you need to place an emergency call in New Zealand you will need to set it to "Auto" again if you want to use the other networks (Vodafone, 2degrees) in case of being out of Telecom coverage.
